@toksyuryel It's to do with ambiguous phrasing carried over via repeated use. Eating one's cake precludes one from having it, while "having" it in the contextual sense means "to keep it uneaten". So it makes sense if phrased as "One cannot keep this cake uneaten and also eat it".
