@einhorn The older (as in, those who've been in it the longest) portion of this fandom has started to reach the stage where they think being cynical about it is deep and clever as a way to set themselves apart from everyone else. I went through the same phase a few months back, but I met some people who I actually felt respect for and they made me realise that I was being rather stupid.
