Now I'm an artist and I love the arts, but it's important to realize that there are a lot of necessary sacrifices that need to be made going into the industry. The understanding here is in the market. Now, basic economics tells us that money is used in exchange for goods or services. So say for example you're paying a lawyer for legal counsel and representation. It's because you need a professional in that field to provide you with a service. When it comes to arts, since it's such an incredibly vast and open market, if you want to make a living as an artist you need to establish yourself as an artist, give people a reason to want your art, and most importantly give people a reason to want to pay for your art. Now I'm all for supporting artists, and I do not in any way condone piracy of art, but it does exist and has to be acknowledged as an artist.
