    Some time ago, I found a small 5000 BTU/hr. PTAC unit (window air conditioner) someone was trying to throw away. I took it, given that EPA regulations require the refrigerant to be properly recovered before disposal (in this case, we are dealing with ozone depleting HCFC R-22). I finally started looking at it, and electrically, it is just fine. I should clean the coils and see how well it cools afterward (it does cool, but it doesn't seem to cool as well as it should).
