@maiyannah IMO a big part of the decline of the transport industry is that it shifted from being mostly based on cooperatives (many drivers would own their own buses and thus be shareholders) to a corporation-based system that tries it's best to own the entire machinery of the line, and hire drivers solely to drive, being assigned to a different car each time rather than having one that's their own. As employees, people are much less likely to do their best than as shareholders.
