I binge-read the final book of "Delicious in Dungeon". It was a very satisfying read. The most prominent thing I respect about the book is that after the climax there is a whole book that serves as an epilogue. A lot of stories just wind up cut short and don't give the reader time to say goodbye to the characters. What do the heroes do when the adventure is over? What are their dreams and goals after that? The last chapters gave time to resolve character arcs, tie some things from the earlier chapters into the final scenes, and give some needed introspection and levity. I'm glad I read the books but without the anime I hadn't pulled the trigger.
