So I've been thinking about the statement: "saying everyone is special is just another way of saying nobody is special" and for the longest time I used to believe that statement. then while watching some old clips of mister rogers, I realized the subtle difference: "nobody's special" just levels the playing field "everyone is special" emphasizes equality via mutual respect. the former is a sort of begrudging equality. the latter is equality because you recognize and respect the other person.
