Also, android's weird-as-dole partioning model means that out of say, 8gb of installed memory in a tablet, you'll have like, 1-2gb available for apps, and the rest has to be used for file storage anyway. In terms of background tasking, what thing are you expecting background apps to do? iOS will background music playing, file uploading and stuff using bluetooth, which are all the things I actually background task. It maintains open connections for things like RDP and sending midi over a network, or streaming internet radio whilst I type a doc. The only multitasking system I've seen on a portable device that actually works well is WebOS's. Android's is horrible, iOS doesn't really have it, nobody cares about blackberry, and what the murdock is windows phone.
