@pandabear Oh, As the Stars isn't my AOTY. That's why I said "metal Album of the Year", I was referring to that genre specifically. As far as overall, I still really love Pinata. A U R O R A has been growing on me a lot recently as well, definitely my electronic album of the year and contender for overall AOTY.

@pandabear I thought it was really tight. El-P's playing around with the production a lot more, but even with more abstract instrumentation the track is still resoundingly hard hitting.

@pandabear Yeah, to be fair it didn't blow my expectations out of the water but I had high hopes since I absolutely loved the debut. Hard hitting futuristic beats and really incredible flow from both emcees. Also, El-P and Killer Mike just have really great synergy and I loved how they were able to play off each other on the record and bounce back and forth from verse to verse. It gave the album a very immediate feel but it still had enough depth to retain entertainment value on repeated listens. Plus it was well paced and didn't overstay its welcome so it left me refreshed with a good taste in my mouth (or ear, I guess). Hyped for RTJ2.

@pandabear Yeah, this is all pretty much my initial thoughts. Also, on the topic of records growing on me, I've been really digging the new DFA1979 a lot more after repeated listens.
