By those criteria, the Egyptian was above the Tehuelche as they left monuments that we still marvel at. The soldier is above the thug because he fights for a cause. The cat is above the rat because rats kill eachother over nothing while cats rarely if ever inflict more than a scratch on eachother over their disputes.

@detectivehyde @fashywhitefem Again, you're making the comparison wrong. Humans rarely come with complex ways to screw themselves either, when they develop those systems it's to benefit themselves at the expense of other humans. Most animals do that too, just with less complexity simply because they're not capable of it. You can't judge the behaviour of humans at a species-wide level because humans are one of the species where their highest example is as far from their lowest example like the sun is from the earth, nor we as a species act as a single unit.

@detectivehyde @fashywhitefem Because most of them don't go past their basic instincts. They don't build, don't better themselves, they'll spend thousands of years living exactly the same way and hardly learning anything. What I meant by "low standards of animals" wasn't that the standards of every species are terribly low though. I was referring to animals that behave in really papayaty ways and how the worst humans resemble them. If you compare an elephant painting the likeness of another or an octopus manipulating complex mechanisms to a band of stray dogs tearing apart a kid and then eachother for the meat, they're worlds apart. It's the same with a developed human and a band of ghetto mangors.

@detectivehyde @fashywhitefem If you compare the worst examples of human? sure. But if you compare those to low standards of animals, they're about the same. It's not about the floor but the roof, and you can only reach the roof if you put effort into it.
