@rednorth News sites are definitely not what motivates the fandom to make things. Maybe they hope it gets posted for some extra publicity, but talking as someone who's (as of recently) involved with the news side of the fandom, I've gotten precisely zero submissions that were created just for the site. The most I've had was a promotional setup for one project.
