  3. @retl However. As a medium for communication, creative skills are still valuable to me. As a way to spread smiles and friendly ideas, these abilities are still valuable to me. As a way to exchange for others something which they can do things for me, it is still valuable to me. As a way to get a conversation and have some goofy fun with friends, it is valuable to me. I can be paid to do this work. It is a valuable part of my skillset. I like the work others do for me a lot more than my work more often than I like my own work. This is why I tend to like art trades. However, because my own worldbuilding and similar tends to lose its appeal to me in the short term, it's usually hard for me to know what to ask of others when doing an art exchange.

  12. @retl Bratz are super-sexualised fashion idol, consumerism promoting "being beautiful is more important than being smart" type dolls.

  19. @retl I knew someone who put a potato in a microwave for 45 minutes... melted the glass tray in the bottom.

  21. @retl Pfffft. We had lollipops today in class, actually! We also had a related incident in which we were coming up with vaguely-rude names for a hypothetical hardware store. We settled with "Screwed Up", after dismissing "Screw You".

  28. @retl I used to put metal in the microwave all the time, back when TV dinners still came in foil trays, you could just peel the cover off and stick them back in the box, used to nuke them all the time with no problems.
