@retl The function of the Orb of Light is the same, but it's always been too slow to actually keep up with you. So, their solution was to make it even SLOWER. Shine Potions were already looking like the better option in the previous patch, now there's just no contest.

@retl !Terraria My beautiful Jungle Rose was replaced with a pile of gooey spores, my Staff of Regrowth has been nerfed to hell, the Orb of Light is completely useless, and NPCs have invaded my wonderful fortress that I spent hours NPC-proofing. I had to kill them all by flooding my fortress with lava, which can no longer be removed by building blocks over it. Also, the speed boost from my Necro Armor was moved to the Shadow Armor.

@retl Some things upgrade, some don't. New mobs spawn in the new maps, but my biomes (Desert, ocean) didn't upgrade. Haven't looked in a chest yet, but chest contents is determined at map generation, so I don't think I can ever find a new item from a chest.

@retl I've been playing a hardcore character lately, and that's been totally fun. The new stuff seems to fit in a lot better when it's not ruining a character you've worked hard on.

@retl I've logged over 100 hours. I've had my cobalt/jungle armor reduced to common, my murasame nerfed and my rocket boots ruined and nothing substantial has been added, despite the dev's promise of constant improvements, so I'm somewhat cynical about their capabilities at this point.

@retl The game wasn't well balanced at 1.0, and just nerfing popular items has done nothing to add more variance or balance to the experience. It feels likethey lack a solid roadmap for how to expand the experience so they're just reacting to whatevers popular.
