  9. I'm considering running a scholar/academic/research/education oriented instance, wondering how much interest there is in it on this bit of the ?

It seems very doable, but bit steep in investment cost (hardware). I think it should be doable with a running cost of ca 100-150,- per month for hosting and hardware. Assuming sponsored/donated admin-time.

  11. Certain "folk" came to the # after their centralized home was dropped again by its hoster because it allowed the kind of content they post. Then they get angry about being kicked off of various instances here. Well instead of expecting someone else to take the risk, they should host their own # # instance or use a # platform.

  16. Hey there social media hosting people and developers working on any of the #Fediverse systems!

Is there anyone of you at the Chaos Communication Congress in Leipzig this year right after Christmas? Is there anyone interested to have a meeting there?

Just some exchange, we would need some people to moderate the event, but basically some meetup to exchange information and get to know other players in the field.
"Someone" could then register a "talk" or "meetup" for the upcoming congress, I'd say a duration of about 1.5 to 2 hours and maybe 60+ people can be expected, assuming there is many #webmasters or #developers among the visitors at the #35C3.

Any #devs and #webmaster of the following systems, or any that I might have missed that are using #ActivityPup and can communicate with the others, please comment here if you like the idea!

  17. Hey what is the best (simple but powerful) static site generator you would suggest me to try?

I have played with Hugo and Jekyll, and I feel they're a bit on the heavy/complicated side. Any more lightweight options?

    Thanks!

I was surprised to find out that users, whith whom I talked recently, gave me their feedback years ago already... (I have history of notes for several years, from different social networks, stored on my phone in AndStatus)

  23. Dear Fediverse,

Soon, some venture capitalist will put $5 million into a startup that offers free fediverse accounts with unlimited storage, etc.

Unless every other instance instantly blocks such a service from Day 1, you can kiss your fediverse goodbye and say hello to a new Gmail. Once network effects kick in, they will make the rules.

It _can_ happen here but you have an opportunity to kill it before it does.

  25. @maiyannah At the very least, now they have very publicly disproved "A place where harassment is not allowed, where anti-harassment tools protect users".

Hopefully, all # projects will see that anti-harassment tools need to primarily be in the user's hands, instead of the admin's. This should be a priority for a while.
