@shel Thanks for noticing CW and "post scope" for #Mastodon.
"CW" (Content warning) is just a message title, which Mastodon uses (today) as a spoiler to hide a "toot"?! I agree, the option to add a title is really needed as it is supported at least by Mastodon and #Pump.io.
Post scope, as I see, is a simplified way to select the message recipients. The feature is actual for Pump.io also (which has Public and Followers predefined groups of recipients), so I will plan this also. -
@gargron could the #OmniAuth-OpenID gem be useful to #Mastodon?

Wow, I haven't 'quipped' in over two years. #depression #quitter #gnusocial and now #mastodon got me to log in again.
-
And this is where I launch into a rant about how #OStatus servers like #gnusocial and #mastodon should (MUST) at least generate notifications for users that say something to the effect of "so-and-so published a BLERG activity type, but this server does not know how to handle that activity; it can be viewed at PERMALINK." instead of silently ignoring everything that is not a notice/microblog. Having a libre-Twitter is great, but microblogging is not the be-all of social media, and it is only one possible application of an open pub/sub system.

@sda I have run mastodon, it was bulky and slow compared to GNUSocial. My instance has been up a couple months, but I used to run gnusocial.me as well. Technical differences: #GNUSocial has (And Mastodon does not): - PHP - Plugins, modules, etc (easier to customize) - Runs in Apache, Nginx, lighttpd, etc - MySQL support - Windows Support with IIS and PHP5 - User polls (Voting system) - Groups - JSON, ATOM, and RSS feeds for accounts and API - True support for SSL/TLS - Admin can set text limit. (p2px.me can send out 2000 char. notices (Or toots as they are called on Mastodon)) #Mastodon has (And GNUSocial does not): - Content Warning System (Allowing users to hide posts) - Privacy Settings (GNUSocial kinda has this, but is way too limited) - Runs on Ruby with or without docker (GNUSocial has docker support as well, but that is old) - PostgreSQL with Redis Queue (GNUSocial can use redis queue as well like my instance d…

Is #Mastodon on the wider #federation now?

@lnxw48a1 my impression was that #halcyon.social was an instance of #Mastodon + #Halcyon but I could easily be wrong...
-
#halcyon.social is to #Mastodon what #Qvitter is to #GNUSocial
