Still struggling with my internet connection (on a single router): I've for some reason NetworkManager just craps out after a period - no idea what period or why but I suspect some misconfiguration somewhere (nothing I did manually). Off to bed, I have a pile of work for #tomorrow... Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix

For now: Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix :) Let's see if I can finish my tax declaration #tomorrow... (oops - that's #today, actually)
-
Sorted my "connectivity" for now - partly by disconnecting one of the two routers. Now I have at least half-way functional internet for one of the two laptops here. Then reorganised data structure for financial information - on Tine and USB stick (it will later have to sit on Dennis, but this is already complicated enough for now). Now, I need some sleep and then #tomorrow I'll have to change (or cancel) an appointment: I simply cannot afford the travel time. *sigh*

Phew! Back in Groningen - spent nearly all day doing more #sewing and #mending, but now I have two jackets with shortened sleeves (all done), and three pairs of trousers, also shortened (almost done). Plus a small pile of freshly-washed long-sleeved t-shirts, also ironed. Now back in Groningen (where I don't have an iron or #ironing board but I don't need that any more to finish the trousers). I hope I can do that #tomorrow! All part of the great seasonal clothing exchange project. ;-) (The short-sleeved t-shirts will go back to Amsterdam at the next occasion.)
-
That was a lovely walk, and by now the jackets are nearly finished, too - just the tiny stitches to be done but I need good daylight for that, so that's for #tomorrow

Off to my chair bed! in spite of some techncial problems I made real progress today with data re-organisation and typing out journal notes (but installation of Dokuwiki isn't finished yet, let alone I made it to Amsterdam. :() Some finances sorted, too - but not enough either. Some garden work: it was nice 'stingy' autumn weather, no rain, just really fresh air. Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix! #tomorrow I should try to finish the financial chores...
-
Yay, I finalized the data migration from Dennis to Tine just in time to place an online order with a discount just before the midnight deadline :-D - some more orders & payments to do #tomorrow, but I'm happy the tedious work is done now (now I only need to catch up!)
-
Even though I've already closed the ventilation slots above the windows, it's terribly noisy: they'r re-paving the through road round the corner (today through Monday!). I just realised this is a *dis*advantage of an open kitchen - I hope I'll be able to sleep... Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix! #tomorrow I hope to finish data migration from Dennis to Tine and go to Amsterdam for a bit (with Tine!).

Good night !tzaf !fediverse and !tempfix! Yes, it's ridiculously early now, but I need some time to recover from today's violent hayfever attack. Got medication by now but that takes some time to build up a protective blood level. So, I'm going to relax with a whodunnit and let myself fall asleep when my body decides it needs to. :) See you all #tomorrow!

Off to bed now, I may have to make a flying start #tomorrow if my architect calls.

That was a good day. For the first time since weeks I found I had energy again. Tested laverna and rejected it (for now, for this use case - but it looks promising). Last resort: run DokuWiki locally. Managed to install nginx and MariaDB so far (had to clear a load of hurdles for that but it's done). Left for #tomorrow: install PHP 7 and then DokuWiki. And then configure the lot (to the extent necessary). Also had a longish phone conversation with my architect - we may have a meeting #tomorrow. And there's the Tai Chi lesson in the afternoon - so not sure how much I can get done on Tine. We'll see!
-
OK, Iḿ getting stuck: I need KeePassX 2.0.2 on dennis but cannot get it installed even manually (can use the Linux mint servers, so I tried downloading separate files from Debian servers but I just end up with a huge list of dependences and cannot even --force install whatś needed.) *sigh* That means it has now become unavoidable to re-install dennis completely (but I need a backup and a list of installed software first). Maybe *some* of that #tomorrow
-
Well, I did make a lot of progress with Tine (new laptop) today: third time lucky with installation, then a lot of time 'wasted' while installing software because my internet was slow (and I don't have a RJ45 converter yet, so no cabled connection) - the fastest connection is Ziggo's but that doesn't have support for IPv6 while some of the Ubuntu mirrors around here seem to occasionally expose only IPv6 while Ubuntu "thinks" IPv6 is supported because with Xs4all's Wifi it actually is. So what's faster?? And then there were packages that insisted on downloading help files in Dutch, adding to installation time... Still I installed a load of stuff, some new (like RedNotebook). I also tweaked the UI (at least mostly). Only thing still missing by now is (re)installing Bluetooth (I had it nicely working on the previous install). So that's for #tomorrow (too tired by now), and then I'll try to write it all up using RedNotebook.
-
OK - installed now! And while Bluetooth did NOT work from the live DVD (actually, crashed if I tried to do anything at all with it), it now works: external drive -> laptop <-> bluetooth -> speakers (too tired to check if that is a correct schema). Anyway, happy now, #tomorrow I can start on configuration! \o/

I tried both Fedora-MATE and Ubuntu-MATE on the new (still nameless) laptop and found Ubuntu has a lot more configuration options. I like that. So then I started looking up how to "really enable" the root account on Ubuntu (possible), and how to install it on an 'already UEFI' machine (lots of old information, but quite possible now - not sure if I have found the 'currently best' method yet so I'll need to do more reading... #tomorrow
