@theanneh We've never organized ourselves by groups too much here, with the exception of meetup groups. Groups are mostly used to send posts to specific people rather than activity hubs. Most activity in the site is centered around the public timeline. Still, I'd say check for keywords related to your interests if you want to find groups. Even if they're inactive, posting to them usually brings attention to the topic of the group and someone might reply.

@theanneh Hmm. Aside from the short list of active groups on the right side of this page, and the Promoted notices to the right of the homepage, I'm not really sure what to suggest. Posting to a group you've joined will notify other members which may help boost activity a tiny bit, but other than that I don't know how you can search for active groups.
