  9. @muttstuffle absolutely. I'll have to be sure to log back in to RDN then tomorrow while I'm doing another day of research and reading. is there a ways to friend on this? i've literally been signed up to this website for 40 minutes now... so i'm pleasantly surprised at how quickly people were willing to chat and make nice.

  11. @camero719 honestly, this is the first chance I've had to talk to ANYone who actually is a fan of the show... i.e. anyone who I am not introducing to it. None of my friends/family/etc. watch it or are aware of it except as an internet phenomenon. Even though some of them are aware of Lauren Faust and have liked her other shows

  13. is there a term for "coming out of the closet" as a brony? I propose "coming out of the stable"

Friday, 30-Nov-12 01:02:07 UTC from web
  14. @camero719 are you a student now? no brony teachers? (or at least none that are out of the closet?)

  15. @muttstuffle that's why we join communities like this though I suppose! Can't change what we did (or failed to do, I suppose) in high school, but we can reach out here and share good, unadulterated enjoyment with other people with similar likes

  16. @muttstuffle I only ever got bullied seriously when I was in high school by my teammates on the tennis team. Not because I was bad at tennis... I took state titles 3 years in a row... but because I was a punk rocker at the time and dressed different. And being surrounded by a bunch of jocks resulted in getting singled out and mocked. There was another kid on the team who got it worse though, and I always felt badly that while I didn't contribute to it, I didn't help either. I'm sure everyone has a similar regret like that from high school though...

  17. @muttstuffle Yes, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. And I like assuming that everyone isn't out to take advantage of you, which leads to me getting taken advantage of sometimes. But I'd rather get taken advantage of occasionally than walking around being suspicious of everyone else all the time. It takes so much energy, and everyone I know who thinks like that just tends to be miserable...

  18. So, a shout out to anyone and to see anyone's reactions... has anyone watched the "Friendship is Witchcraft" videos on youtube? I'm sorry if I sound like a bit of a noob or if this is all old news, but so much of this is new to me.

  19. and apples was a translation. what a fun site this is! i love it...

  20. ah. the bad word people usually use got retyped to "murdock". I'll let everyone infer what people normally say that rhymes with "murdock"...

Friday, 30-Nov-12 00:48:51 UTC from web
  21. That's okay though. Just love and tolerate the apples out of them regardless of their attitude.

  22. @muttstuffle I thiiiiink so. Aside from some typos the study was clear and thought out. I think they could expand it a little bit more and make it more detailed, but it's just nice to have that to show people, especially since most people's reactions (at least most people I know) are "you watch a show for girls? murdock."

  23. @muttstuffle ah! my first roommate was a computer science student. I think he's programming for neopets and performing in a sketch comedy group.

  24. @camero719 There was an interesting little psyche study I saw. Two psychologists did a survey of over 25,000 bronies (based on personality etc.) and compared it to a control group. The study was focused on the fact that it was a unique opportunity to observe a fandom/community in its genesis as opposed to years after its formation. I forget how I found it on the web but it's a curious read. The results (so far, they are still continuing research) are that bronies are, more or less, just nicer people. Who'da thunk it?

  25. @nerthos those were a trip too. 5 rmb (about 75 cents) to get you around your immediate neighborhood. the best is when they cut in front of a large transit bus and you've practically crapped your pants from fear and the driver is looking at you like "what's your problem stupid laowai (foreigner)?"

  28. @muttstuffle Univ. of Southern California '08 in English, minor in French. UNLV Master's in Fine Arts in Poetry/Creative Writing. Thus, the lack of jobs. Hyuck. I take it with a good sense of humor, don't worry. I'm currently working on a manuscript based on eco-poetics (an exploration of the writer's relationship with "where" they are. it's not tree-hugging, so to speak. You could do an eco-poem in Manhattan.) based on history/geography/autobiography of Salt Lake City and Utah in general. It's a strange place to be.

  30. @muttstuffle Being at the moment jobless (so much for that Master's degree helping :p ) I spend my days doing independent research/study for a new manuscript of writing I'm working on, which I could elaborate on but it would probably be 20% less cool to do so
