!vancouverbronies C/P from Tigerdusk: "This is for the meeting that is happening on the 30th at 1 pm. The place is Rev's bowling alley and it's just beside holdom station (you have to take the millenium line sky train) Everyone seemed to want to meet up 1 hr earlier at noon from what I gathered, and finally the meeting place that would be conviniant is the Starbucks literally 30 seconds outside of Holdom skytrain station. I'll be outside or inside depending on the weather. You can spot me in the yellow Apple Jack cutie mark T-shirt. I'll repost this info again on the week of. Anyone got any questions, it would be a good time to ask."
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies I agree, but I've seen some meetup footage of people who have taken it too far and just crossed the line into becoming obnoxious people who don't give a apples that they're bothering those around them. I just don't want that to become the norm and to become what people will associate with the fandom. We've been doing well so far, I just want to remind people to keep your common sense. Bear in mind that other people want to have their own fun times without ponies, so we don't wanna be forceful or annoying. Bowling alleys are noisy, so we shouldn't use our speakers when we're there, but maybe if we go to a park or something we can use them there. Either way, I forgot to tag it when I reposted the meetup info, so I'm gonna re-repost it.
-
@echron1000 !vancouverbronies It is the weekend before Halloween, so I suppose there probably won't be any problems if you're wearing a costume, but bear in mind that we'll be going to a mall afterwards, and also just use common sense, since by meeting up we're representing the brony community and we don't want to do anything to diminish our image, since we're still a fairly new concept.
-
@andranator2 !vancouverbronies The bowling will probably be done around 2:30-3:00 and then we'll head to a mall. The mall closes at 6:00 but some may want to hang out and do something after that. Just feel free to split off whenever you want.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Good reminder. We'll hit up the mall after we're done bowlin'. Do you know if there's any decent parking at the bowling alley?
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies So basically that reserves the lane for as many people for as long as we want? Do we still pay for renting shoes?
-
@redtie !vancouverbronies Dude that's awesome. How many chicks tried getting your number? Did you have to turn a bunch of them down, like "apples, don't interrupt my ponies"?
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Well if you pay then I'm sure some of us will be willing to pay you back. I know the place I go to charges per person, not per lane, though maybe there's some sort of group rate or something. Either way, depending on the number of people attending we may want three lanes. Two would be good for now, though, since we have no idea what kind of turnout we'll get.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Well I figured people who were bowling would pay. Have you gotta pay in advance if you reserve lanes?
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Yeah, there's a little link button on the top-right of the page you click to get the URL of that specific location on GMaps. So, I tried getting the custom URL "Bowling" but it cut off the B. I guess we're owling. Hoot. http://oat.nu/owling
-
@echron1000 !vancouverbronies If all goes according to plan, bowling at some place (@tigerdusk, see if you can find it on GoogleMaps and then oat.nu the link and post it) by Holdem station (That part I remember because I thought it was funny that we're bowling near somewhere called "Hold 'em"). Meetup will be Sunday, Oct. 30, meeting at 12 and then we start bowlin' at 1.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Well we should probably figure out what start time we'll be aiming for first. What do people think of starting the meet at noon?
-
@maxig !vancouverbronies I think we're leading more for the 30th, in that case. Whoever knows much about the bowling alley should go in and see if they can get some lanes booked for that day. I guess we should figure out the best one to go to (I wasn't paying particularly strong attention to the options, sorry) and then figure out a good meeting time.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Good point, however I think less people are available on Saturday. I almost always work that day of the week, so we'd have to have this planned a good chunk in advance if I'm to take the day off. I should be able to do it, though.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies And this is near one of the bowling alleys? Which one? Sounds like a good idea. Might seem late in the month, but I think the 29th or 30th could be good for meeting up, it'd give people time to plan and make arrangements. Also, there's no new episode that week, it's the same as the 22nd's, so we'll all be in the loop.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies I still think bowling could be a fairly inexpensive way to hang out (and those who wanna be cheap can just sit around and hang and not bowl), I'm just thinking a different day would be better.
-
@tequilasunrise !vancouverbronies I'm not usually too keen on fursuits, but I won't judge. It might be poor planning to overlap meetup events with another group, though, if just because we'll have less lanes for our group.
-
@thepuzzldpirate !vancouverbronies Issue with that is that it's getting colder and darker as time goes on. I'm thinking a bowling alley could be a cool place for a hangout.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies Oh, yeah. It was a blatant Star Wars parody. I was a little unsure until it confirmed it with the quick circle-wipe to credits.
-
@tigerdusk !vancouverbronies we're not sure how long the gap will be. At least a couple weeks, it seems. Hey, at least we're getting SOMETHING this early in the new show season.
-
@underdogbassist !vancouverbronies I saw that guy too. It's actually an amazing unintentional photobomb.
-
!vancouverbronies @thepuzzldpirate Imgur's pretty good for image hosting, then you could link it here. sethisto@gmail.com is where to submit stuff for EqD, I think. There's a "Submit" link at the top of the blog.

!vancouverbronies NICE JOB MIKE, I typoed the gorup name. Fun times today, guys! We didn't get much footage of it this time, but we DID get the group shot and there was a bigger group than last time, which was nice. Also, since I kept hyping it up, here's my silly remix: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF6aFXBsHcg
-
@tequilasunrise !vancouverbronies Comin' in loud and clear to me.
-
@pinhooves !vancouverbronies We're all good people and it's a pretty casual setting. If you're timid, good ways to get into conversation are to eavesdrop and butt your way into other people's conversations or to just ask who someone's fave pony is. Or discuss the new episode. (But not here, that'll just get the group a bit cluttered, and we should try to save it to meetup planning or talking about things we've done/made.
-
@underdogbassist !vancouverbronies Maybe we should establish who's seen it and who hasn't at the beginning of the hangout. I can probably get the episode on my laptop by then so we can watch it if we can find a good place to do so. Otherwise, just be wary of who's discussing what.
-
!vancouverbronies I'll also try to show up slightly early if I can. I'll have my standard black trilby with the Dash pin, RBD shirt, and I'll have my laptop bag with some ponies in it. Also with my laptop, hopefully loaded with the new episode.

@cracky !vancouverbronies Let's make a point of staying at the food court for at least an hour just in case of any latecomers. Also, try to see the first episode of the new season as soon as you can, so you're not getting stuff spoiled in discussions that day. I'll try to put the episode on my laptop if I can by that point, and then hopefully we'll get some place good where people can crowd around and watch it.
-
@echron1000 !vancouverbronies I say we stick with the Metrotown plan, otherwise it'll get too hectic and people will just get confused. Hopefully one of us will have access to the RDNet group so we can check on any posts in case people are posting about being lost or confused. If it's sunny, we can probably hang around outside around Metrotown. How many stops apart are the park and Metrotown? We might be able to take the Skytrain for one stop or some of us could carpool or something if the weather permits a change in venue.
-
!vancouverbronies @tigerdusk fantastic, I'll make sure to bring my music player. It's not an iPod, have your speakers got a general aux port or something like that? Also, bear in mind that we probably won't be allowed to play music right there in the food court, we'd have to find somewhere else to do it. Again, I'm banking on the chance of hanging outside for a little bit if it turns out to not be too rainy.
