@utzer It can't be completely down like Twitter is right now since it's federated. Your main pod is down? Just sign up on another one.
-
Last 10 mentions have been by a bot. http://qttr.at/1f4h
-
Twitter is down, thought I'd check here again.
-
@nilsding Yes I see - it is really down ;-)

I had some salmon (lax) from !dumpsterdiving for lunch today! Super tasty.
-
-
@hannes2peer @mmn So not really free at all other than being gratis.
-
@dolus Unless one only deals with non-commercial things and the word "gratis" has no meaning anyway because there is no opposite to it in one's daily life.
-
@mmn Bottom line is non-commercial = non-free. And a word does not need an opposite to have meaning, 'Gratis' simply means you are not charged money for a thing or a service, while not exluding other strings/terms being attached.

@papa glad to hear that your questions have been answered
-
30 grader både inne och ute. kan tänka mig att prova döden istället för detta

!gnusocial what does the "nonce" table do? something with oauth? ours is 600 MB and 7 million rows. is there a cleaning script?
-
@vinzv i just made some delete query directly in mysql. don't remember how well i cleaned other tables (conversation etc)
-
@vinzv we had a lot more a couple of years ago, but then we removed all remote twitter notices left from when we had two-way twitter bridge
-
@vinzv that explains it :) we only have 2.2 million.
-
@vinzv cool. how many notices do you have in notice-table?
-
@dragnucs quitter.is is filling up some 30GiB and counting.
-
@mmn if you want to reduce database size, i would start deleting external notices (without interactions) before local
-
@hannes2peer Good idea!
Also yes, all-in-all. Database is much smaller. StoreRemoteMedia is the culprit .] -
@mmn @hannes2peer As far as SRM goes, the same sort of solution could work for that as well (remove old attachments related to remote notices that received no interactions)
-
-

Still eating water melons from !dumpsterdiving the other day... https://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/85094

@kat cafés in sweden are getting more and more machines, but making coffee with them requires _more_ work than before
-
@kat i just read this inspiring book on the subject http://sciencenordic.com/get-better-life-say-no
- mmn, internetturtle and mcscx repeated this.
-
https://quitter.se/attachment/1961790 Times are hard for tesco #austerity #EveryLittleBitHelps
- hannes2peer repeated this.
-
@dtluna Also I don't think @hannes2peer is part of the free software movement, he's just a true Marxist which happens to coincide with some !foss stuff! But not all, for example I think he prefers non-commercial licenses!
- takeshitakenji repeated this.

@moonman People saying GNU/Linux is hard to install have likely never installed or reinstalled Windows on a machine. Finding, installing, setting up, configuring and especially entering all the serial numbers and whatnots and then finding out they don't allow another reinstall on your machine and then calling Microsoft support on a Saturday just to be redirected to India and learning that I need to speak to someone who doesn't work today to reactivate the serial key and then find a serial key generator on some random torrent site in order to generate a key for your specific version of Windows (and language?!)..... now where was I? Yeah, Windows installs (and all that come with it) are a breeze even compared to writing a new kernel for the GNU operating system.
-
I like how I ended with something that unless the irony is understood would make the entire post totally incomprehensible.
-
we really need to stop this mode of production
-
@hannes2peer that's the trick, to not have time except for bullcherry so you can't realize that it's bullmango.
-
@hannes2peer i find that actual western society is turning into a mix between "1984" and "Brave new world" .
-
@takebananaakenji which is empirically proven every day online via youtube view counter aka bullFluffle Puff culture transparency indicator // @mmn [ @rse sorry Jim, but we are doing serious science here ] https://quitter.no/url/419240

-
@berry ok, thanks. weird. i should look into this soon.
-
There's a reason I prefer to see nicknames/acct URIs instead of given names. I'm looking at you, @moonman
-
@hannes2peer thx :-) Oldschool disappeared at about the same time/update on both Quitter.se & Vinilox so I thought it had been "reorganised"
-
@moonman maybe youd like to have a look at (and fix) the broken "show convo page as #hierarchical #tree" feature ur1.ca/pc3qd It was awesome
-
I wish to inform you all that I have upgraded my HID, through !dumpsterdiving, and not only do I run a Microsoft keyboard (http://quitter.se/notice/4999301) but now also a Microsoft mouse! It has side buttons that I don't even know what to use for!
