@berry don't know. did you at some point swtch from http to https?

@hannes2peer If it's not in the grey zone, it's in the ... beige zone?
-
@mmn det är hudfärger

!dumpsterdiving just pulled this working eee1000 out of a pile of tech junk in a skip! https://quitter.se/attachment/1897308
-
@einebiene you just push the shorten button before posting
-
@hannes2peer @einebiene Isn't there also behavior to auto-shorten long stuff based on the GNU Social preferences? I know that's what happens with Qvitter on my instance.
-
@takeappleakenji yes but qvitter prevents you from posting more than 140 characters, so if a link is >140 it needs to be shortened first
-
-
@einebiene no you're right, it's something that needs to be fixed, and i wish i had energy for it
-
Don't beat up yourself, you don't need to have energy all the time. Thanks for everything you do! Is there something I can do to reduce your load considering I'm a know-nothing about technical stuff? https://quitter.is/attachment/361717
-
@einebiene thank you very much :)
-
-
@einebiene maybe a browser-specific issue. Maybe he used a tablet browser? There were some copy&paste / cursor positioning issues.
-
@einebiene using the shortener, yes
-
@cat haha ok, i had forgot :)
-
- fanta and hannes2peer repeated this.
-
@kat That's lovely.
-
-
@colegota sorry, i had forgot. added to !qvitter now https://git.gnu.io/h2p/Qvitter/commit/7798a3dfcc79d6866ec35fba4a9f8fc1f43a0217 @mmn

@maiyannah @moonman @hannes2peer i thought of a cool Qvitter feature: The ability to rename bookmarks. That'd probably involve adding a column in the database, but it'd be very useful.
-
@takebananaakenji @moonman @maiyannah good idea and very easy to implement. i just need to fix my brain first.
-
@hannes2peer @moonman @maiyannah If only life were so simple, eh?
-
-
@berry can you try submitting https://gorf.club/berry instead of berry@gorf.club and see if that works?
-
veganer kanske inte borde äta kallpressad rapsolja eftersom affärsmodellen bygger på att sälja den överblivna rapskakan till djurindustrin
- mmn repeated this.
-
blev @dumpstrat-inlägg av den grejen http://dumpstr.at/2016/05/31/kallpressad-rapsolja-ar-slosaktigt-och-inte-vegetariskt/ !dumpsterdiving
-
Jag vågar nog lova att det skulle hittas användningsområden för rapskakan även i frånvaro av djurindustri. Rötning och metan/metanolframställning om inte annat. I sista hand energiutvinning mha brännugn.

@ashy found the email now, and deleted the account. sorry about the delay!
-
@ashy best way is writing to us here on the site, but email should work to. i haven't seen that email though. have @3mp0 seen it?

I want to do some cleaning up on my !gnusocial instance and have a few questions:
1. Say I just delete everything in the avatars folder; is there any way to get those avatars to redownload?
2. Does the file and thumb folder (within the files folder) only contain attachment screenshots (like attached photos and video/link thumbnails)?
3. Can you clean the file and thumb folder in a "proper" way? My instance is small and those two folders take up over 1G of space with *many* pictures of varying sizes. Using the following scripts don't seem to help: https://wiki.realmofespionage.xyz/servers:nginx:gnu_social#service1
4. Is there a clean way to remove Qvitter? I figured I could just disable the plugin and remove the folder, but I noticed some errors about URLs not being found pointing to the Qvitter folder still.
5. Say I redo my instance from scratch and keep the same profile name and URL; how will other instances treat this? Will my status updates still federate?-
@espionage724 4: what file was that? disabling an deleting the qvitter folder should be fine.

is no other admin getting "ignoring PuSH with bad SHA-1 HMAC" in their logs? !gnusocial
- takeshitakenji repeated this.
-
@takekiwiakenji that's a pretty serious bug if more instances than .se get it. did you try my patch for it?
-
@hannes2peer This guy?: http://u.daggsy.com/3j
-
Sorry for the interruption. A pig farmer sabotaged our fiber.
- hannes2peer and mcscx2old repeated this.
-
@hannes2peer indeed weird — but let's hope he treats "his" pigs as well as possible!
-
@hannes2peer hopefully the pigs at that local #pig farmer are treated better than shown here: http://qttr.at/1bpz /via @nordpirat
-
@mcscx i doubt it. it's a normal pig factory. but i don't think highly of organic "happy" pig farms either. the killing is the biggest crime

@delores @deadsuperhero You always have to find clever ways to cut costs where you can...
I'm utterly apathetic to the subject of religion in general, But I'm getting pretty sick of all the anti-capitalist propaganda coming from the Qvitter-sphere of the Fediverse. Even RMS, the man who put the GNU into GNU/Linux, is pro capitalism (to a point). https://sealion.club/attachment/121560 -
@dolus @deadsuperhero because leftists are nu-males and nu-males are more technology focused
but a new age comes -
@dolus @deadsuperhero Garfield does it better. http://u.daggsy.com/2m

is there any programmatic way to get rid of the qvitter tos since it's lying about what my tos is?
-
@hannes2peer How would I make qvitter override a classic interface page it doesn't already? I want to see if I cant manage to work a patch or fix so that the settings page displays using the qvitter theme.
-
@maiyannah see QvitterPlugin.php ~ line 300
-
@hannes2peer I'll take a look, thanks!
-
-
@hannes2peer I noticed, with repeats, the tag for the remote instance is for the instance that repeated it, instead of where the notice was originally posted, This seems like it could be confusing?
For instance, recently takanamy (who is on quitter.se) repeated something from nee (who is on a private instance), and the remote notice URL is in fact for quitter.se
Is this by design? Is there a way we could tag it by the original instance that the notice was posted on, rather than the person who reposted it (or ideally, both?)-
@hannes2peer Oh I remember, I didn't want to have to bother changing css if the instance goes between http and https, but your version there sidesteps that.
-
@hannes2peer Thanks!
-
@hannes2peer (ccing @moonman so he can see this too since it works better for attaching remote instance icons)
-
-
@colegota maybe because it's an "old" url that's already been posted before. is it the same with new posts?
-
@colegota it's because wordpress 4.4+ doesn't supply the extract in the oembed response. it supplies a block of javascript instead
-
@colegota i had fixed that in gnusocial so that the og:description would be used instead if available, but i think that code is broken now
-
@colegota on a second thought it might not be broken! so you can try to install the open graph plugin for wordpress and it might work
-
-
@vinzv I just realised Fragdev posts are missing in conversations on quitter.se, too. May be a known problem. cc: @windigo @hannes2peer
-
@hannes2peer @mcscx @vinzv Yes. Formerly 'https sometimes', but I think that option no longer exists.
-
@lnxw48 @windigo @hannes2peer perhaps Fragdev could do like Quitter.se does:keep both http & https and just redirect some page urls to https
-
@mmn do you know if there are known issues with federation and internationalized domain names? https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social/issues/186
-
@hannes2peer yes, probably
