These beasts can grow up to 3 metres and are one of the oldest animals to walk the planet. It’s probably as close to a dinosaur you can come to. The Komodo dragon doesn’t use the classic ‘hunt, fight & kill’ technique, they rely on something much more efficient. Once they find their prey, they sneak up on it and take a bite. Then the wait starts… they’re waiting for the bacteria in their saliva to slowly kill the prey. This can take up to 3 weeks! Take the opportunity to see the dragons in the wild on Komodo Island or Rinca Island. We always visit these islands to see the dragons on our Komodo budget liveaboard.
