  4. @nerthos @critialcloudkicker @miloth Exactly. 2.0 is likely going to be cheaper unless he goes to a place like Craigslist for a used card. (Newegg: http://ur1.ca/5yi8s )

  5. @miloth are you conforable buying it online ? or would you rather go to a store ? ... the biggest diffrences is that usually online is cheaper, but a store has a larger door to come though if there is a problem, also you can ask them to put it in for you, sometimes they do it for free ( depending on the store )

  6. @critialcloudkicker @miloth In fact, looking at Newegg, you'll likely have trouble (and pay more) for a PCIe 1.0 card nowadays: http://ur1.ca/5yi8s No reason to go out of your way for such a thing.

  7. @takeshitakenji @criticalcloudkicker @miloth I think he best solution is to buy the best card possible with the current budget, in terms of performance, no matter if it's 1.0 or 2.0

  9. @critialcloudkicker @miloth I'm sure he plans to buy a new motherboard eventually. If he gets a PCIe 2.0 card now, he'll be set for future upgrades.

  10. @miloth @critialcloudkicker Like I said, as long as you have a PCIe x16 slot, you can get pretty much any current video card. You're overthinking this.

  11. @takeshitakenji thats true, lets ask @miloth , are you planning to buy a new motherboard soon ?

  12. @critialcloudkicker @miloth PCIe 2.0 cards can go in PCIe 1.0 slots. They're backwards-compatible.

  13. @miloth Yeah, PCI Express 16x is the GPU slot card. For 200 dollars you should look for DDR3 512MB or 1GB cards

  14. @miloth @nerthos Yeah, with PCIe x16, you can get pretty much any current video card.

Sunday, 20-Nov-11 14:57:23 UTC from web in context
  16. @miloth @miloth hmm, you see, here's the problem. Since aAsusTek / Asus punches out near a hundred motherboards a year I am not sure whether you have a PCI Express 2.0 port, or PCI Express 1.0 port... but I really doubt its AGP... if there is a typename on the motherboard, or if you could provide a photo. that would help alot :)

  17. @miloth Yup, pretty much. PCI Express slot GPU? Year? Maybe a 5xxx ATI card could work.
