@y honestly, if you refuse to accept the genre that even the people who made the game and every single platform its playable on, then nothing anyone says is gonna change anything. im honestly just gonna drop it here, there's no point in continuing

@y In a shoot em up, besides the boss battles you can often just coast past everything. In Bullet hells you will have to stop and fight an enemy and dodge incoming bullets and maintain constant fire on that enemy to progress.

@y i think where you are mistaking it is that you are mixing difficulty with genre specifications. Just because it isnt super difficult to navigate the patterns, doesnt mean thats not the gameplay mechanic

@nicklecat i honestly just hope that the game is actually viable for competitive play unlike brawl. I played melee comp. and brawl dissapointed me, and i didn't like project M so i just fell out of competing with it

@c @y @scoot people. defining a game genre is like a movie genre. almost all movies have components of 4 or more overarching genres, but only the most prominent genre is what it is classified as. since we are using rotmg as an example. It is an MMO, yes. It is a shootemup, yes. It is a bullet hell, Yes. It is an RPG, yes. But bullet hell and shootemup are the most prominent. the reason bullet hell is its favored description is because bullet hell implies a large portion of the gameplay revolving around skillful dodging and patter recognition.

@pianissima I've been trained 3 times in genre definition, at school, college and university. It's not that difficult to pick the dominant genre.
