@theonepony Yeah, I played with that one. Quite nice, I could dig it (if I didn't already have a laptop and a netbook). Its nigh-inevitable successor has a high spot on my future list, though.

@theonepony If ASUS handles the transformer line anything like the rest of the android OEMs, the second the prime hits the market, the TF101 is a dead product.

@theonepony Hate Apple or not, that's something they don't do. The iPad two is out, but the iPad one is still fully supported with accessories, apps and firmware updates.

@ceruleanspark I agree that all of apples products are well made and supported, but I feel that it's just not worth it to pay more for a stripped down and function crippled device.

@ceruleanspark The total lack of actual multitasking for one. The lack of usb and sd slots is also a major factor. The Ipad has some pretty impressive hardware, but it's OS is so ruining. Not to mention Apple's apparent hatred for independent development, but that's a different topic all together.

@ceruleanspark I hope I can be forgiven for butting in, but my main thing isn't so much against Apple as it is in favor of FLOSS. I am a software libertarian. :p

@theonepony When you say multitasking, what do you actually mean/want it for? I use my iPad on a daily basis and I've never felt this was a limitation, and this is having traded over from an android device! As for SD slots: I don't know if you've used android before, but OS support for things like installing apps to SD sucks ALL THE BALLS.

@ceruleanspark That's why you use the SD for doc storage, besides, I thought you liked sucking the balls. As for multitasking, I mean the ability to run an app, minimize whilst keeping it running, open another app, minimize that one, and then reopen the minimized one again, and have it done with whatever you had it doing.

@theonepony The smallest iPad is a 16gb model. Do you envision yourself needing expandable storage for docs apps and movies above and beyond that. Also, android's weird-as-dole partioning model means that out of say, 8gb of installed memory in a tablet, you'll have like, 1-2gb available for apps, and the rest has to be used for file storage anyway. In terms of background tasking, what thing are you expecting background apps to do? iOS will background music playing, file uploading and stuff using bluetooth, which are all the things I actually background task. It maintains open connections for things like RDP and sending midi over a network, or streaming internet radio whilst I type a doc. The only multitasking system I've seen on a portable device that actually works well is WebOS's. Android's is horrible, iOS doesn't really have it, nobody cares about blackberry, and what the murdock is windows phone.

@ceruleanspark From what I've seen, the Android interface is much more appealing for what I actually plan on doing with it. I will, in fact, need external doc storage as I plan on using it as a laptop substitute.

@ceruleanspark My PC. You don't expect me to store all my homework on a tablet, do you? That would be akin to storing all my money in the fireplace in the middle of December.

@theonepony All the productivity apps on my iPad drop stuff into dropbox for me in real time, so it's a nonissue. It's actually less work for me to do that than it is for you to move an SD card. Look up simplenote for text editing. Android has it too. Automatic real-time over the web syncing.

@ceruleanspark That's the idea, but I also need more room to have stuff. Even if it syncs with Dropbox, I would still have to clear things off my tablet for space. It's just more efficient to have more room. Besides, if I really wanted to(which I do not) I could load Linux on an Android.
