I REALLY shouldn't have done what I just did. I really the mother of all of the worst MLP grim/dark fanfics: Sweet Apple Massacre....

@dlcentaur Cheerilee's Garden is worse/better.

@policeman I swear, every time I get to what some ponies call the worst, someone else directs me to an even more disturbing one. Here are the creepy stories I've read (in this order) Rainbow Factory, Cupcakes (with several alternate endings), Sweet Apple Massacre. WHY are these stories so addicting (even though I hate them). Btw, Sweet Apple Massacre is probably the most disgusting and badly written fanfics I've ever read.

@dlcentaur No Rocket to Insanity? For shame!
Monday, 26-Mar-12 04:52:32 UTC from web -
@dlcentaur They aren't bad at all. I get a good laugh out of grimdark usually. If it's written well enough, sometimes I even get a case of the feels. Never has a grimdark made me feel uncomfortable like it does you.

perhaps what I posted was too depressing for some ponies...
Monday, 26-Mar-12 04:46:00 UTC from web-
@crusader8 Nah. It's true. I can't wait until that day.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 04:46:48 UTC from web-
@policeman whyzat
Monday, 26-Mar-12 04:55:01 UTC from web-
@crusader8 Then I can get into something else. ponies have taken over my life and it's an addiction. I mean, I love 'em as much as the next guy, but there's gotta be a point where I can give it up. it's man, man.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 04:58:36 UTC from web-
@policeman I would say I'm addicted less to the ponies and more to the community. MY last experience in fandoms was anime, and it took me years to figure out I dislike the anime fanbase. I've tried year after year to connect with members of the community, socialize contribute etc, but their introverted and anti-social ways pushed me away. Also, apparently after Death Note it was either Yaoi fanservice or go home kind of fandom. (Not Death Note's fault, just saying for timeline). The brony community is much more social, more open and accepting, and people recognize I exist regardless of whether I directly address them or not. bronies know how to have a fandom, what can I say?
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:06:18 UTC from web-
@crusader8 Exactly. I honestly dislike the brony community as a whole and the way they carry themselves, but I am addicted to this place specifically. i don't want to say I'm addicted to the fandom, because it's not the whole fandom at all. I can go days or weeks without listening to pony music or checking DA or whatever, but I miss the discussions. I wanna say it's just forming bonds with people and a sort of "keeping in contact among friends" type thing. Every community has it's good and bad seeds, you may just have to search.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:10:41 UTC from web-
@policeman I think the thing I love about the brony community is that almost EVERYONE creatively contributes to the pony fandom, whether it be art, music, handmade stuff, pmv's animation, writing - this amount of fan-made fandom is almost unheard of. And for the fandom to be so young... I may shed a man tear here.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:19:06 UTC from web-
@crusader8 I actually hate how everyone is trying to contribute to the fandom. It's like they feel like discussing things isn't enough. They feel so self-important that they make cherriesty cherries and it pollutes our fandom and then it spreads all over and before you know it, we're the wildfire that's destroying the internet.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:24:15 UTC from web-
@policeman You heard him, everybody stop being inspired.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:26:31 UTC from web-
@greatandpowerfuleaglehooves I don't mind people improving themselves through ponies, but chill the hell out with it. Also, stop trying to become good at everything. “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” -Bruce Lee

@policeman What exactly happens to Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon O.o This part doesn't have quite as much orderly detail as I'd like. It never says whether they are on the ground or standing up. But it's so good so far. Best one yet, I think. Very well thought out.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:34:05 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur It's a machine that keeps them suspended. It felt too thought-out to be plausible to me.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:41:17 UTC from web-
@policeman I think it is plausible, but a bit too high tech and expensive for a teacher.... wouldn't SOMEONE question why the heck a tracher was buying all of these extremely dangerous items?

@policeman See, the only reason I flinch at these fanfics is because I have an extremely powerful imagination. If you can write something out, write it well, and write it accurately, I can just about be there and experience things semi-physically. See these fanfics are sick because (even if they aren't real) they very well COULD be. o.o I hate my Dark side....it actually likes torture....and self torture....
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:54:04 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur Masochist.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:56:05 UTC from web-
@yeepzor And that's why I hate my dark side. And if I wasn't such an idiot, I would have stopped reading all of these very dark fanfics. My Light side is stronger though. My Dark side's time is limited. (P.S. Dark and Light..... DL in my name Dark/Light Centaur)

@dlcentaur So your imagination just kind of takes over as you're reading. Sounds brutal. I suppose that's good. You can better visualize what they're trying to translate. That's probably exactly why I'm not affected. Just keep reminding yourself that "it's only fanwork." xD
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:59:50 UTC from web-
@policeman Yeah, it's pretty intense because I tend to put myself directly in the place of the person in pain...
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:07:43 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur Why? that seems rough.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:10:05 UTC from web-
@policeman :/ I can't help it. I don't consciously do it.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:11:48 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur You've got an active imagination. That's great that you can visualize things like that.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:12:58 UTC from web-
@policeman Yup, and normally, I'm proud of it, but right now I'm enthralled and disturbed as well as terrified. Dang this is a good story.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:15:57 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur Oh, haha. I bet there's better. I wish you the best in terms of sleeping tonight
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:17:48 UTC from web-
@policeman Heh, thanks. Yes, I have read better (in a book), but for torture/fanfics, this is the best I've ever read.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:18:57 UTC from web-
@dlcentaur I'm sure you'll find a better one sooner than later. Either way, glad you enjoy it(?)
Monday, 26-Mar-12 06:20:23 UTC from web-
@policeman I am still enjoying it, though, I feel a bit sick. I'm coming up to Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle's deaths.

@firestormdangerdash Ever tried Cheerilee's Garden? That's what I'm on now. Please, some pony, stay on until I'm done with the fic, I may need some one to talk to and some one to help console my mind after this fic.

@policeman Not everyone is going to make something golden, but I don't think you give enough credit to the talented folks out there who were simply uninspired until MLP came along, or the many fans who didn't know they had it in them until they saw what everyone else was doing and gave it a shot. There's just so much diversity out there to dumb it down and presume self-indulgent motivations out of everyone. Give it a few months or even a year and you'll see much less of what you consider eye or ear-offending as the immediate hype dies down somewhat. But seriously you have a negative outlook on this subject. http://ur1.ca/8sowq
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:33:13 UTC from web-
@crusader8 Well I wasn't trying to put down the creativity of the people so much as the spreading. If you get motivation from MLP and you've made yourself better at music or art or whatever, good on ya. It's just the fact that you don't have to force it on everyone and you can post it privately or something for criticization or whatever. For a long while, the fandom was a centered group of artists and certain people from each creative outlet that made stuff. The rest of us would practice or something and every now and then, when we felt something was good enough, or if people asked, we would show it. If alot of people liked it, you could join the elite squad of whatever-you're-doing. Nowadays it feels like everyone feels like they are entitled to be in that group. It reminds me of the whole "Giving trophies to the losing team" sort of argument.
Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:40:27 UTC from web-
@policeman 1. You make it sound like MLP bronies have been around for a decade or so. 2. Your argument sounds like, "you shouldn't share your creative pony-inspired works unless you've been approved by this agreed-upon elite committee of people who did it before you did." I don't think anyone has a right to say who should or shouldn't create and share. If someone's stuff sucks, it gets ignored and the creator will figure that out quickly. If it's good it will get noticed and/or celebrated. It's exactly like being a brony - people hate on bronies although it does not personally affect them. So how does me making an MLP board game or singing covers to MLP music personally affect you? Just curious.

@crusader8 I could care less about the MLP board game or covers or something because there honestly aren't that many people doing it at this point (give it a month or so. Bronies will think they can do that like pros, too) it's just that we need a creative cap otherwise all our apples folds together into a pile of crap. The good can't shine and the bad can't shut the hell up. You mention that the creator of the crappy stuff realizes he's being ignored and stuff, but we don't ignore him. People tell him "good job, keep it up" and he keeps it up, making more and more crap and it flows into the stream. Hell, good artists and stuff stop because they get flooded over and over with bad work and they realize they are being forgotten in the process. There's a cap on everything. Also, with the "being around for a time" thing, it's like someone dating someone "only" 3 years younger in high school. That's 3 years of experience that makes all the difference.
