Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:10:14 UTC from web
      1. @mushi # Have you ever thought that Fluttershy is the jerk for imposing her view on the management of Applejack's property?

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:13:24 UTC from web
        1. @northernnarwhal just like the abolitionists did back then?

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:14:42 UTC from web
          1. @mushi Totally different scenario. You're comparing idealism to business practice.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:16:39 UTC from web
            1. @northernnarwhal then tell me again how extiguisinhg the tree's polinators would do any good for the farm?

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:18:53 UTC from web
              1. @mushi Because it's simultaneously destroying it and poses a threat to prize crops that can't grow naturally.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:20:31 UTC from web
                1. @northernnarwhal that is why the sanctuary was a good idea

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:23:38 UTC from web
                  1. @mushi Except they still can't technically control where the bats are going. If anything, the sanctuary feels a bit arbitrary.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:25:45 UTC from web
                    1. @northernnarwhal it did work in the end of the episode

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:27:20 UTC from web
                      1. @mushi I'm saying that in all practicality it wouldn't work, I can understand artistic license but it's almost a bit of a plot hole. I mean, if a bunch of rabid rats came into my house and ate/contaminated all my food in my drawer, I'd want to get rid of them, not quarantine a portion of my house for them. Applejack's method of thinking isn't mean or nasty, it's just pragmatical.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:30:46 UTC from web
                        1. @northernnarwhal sure it isnt mean to want to gt rid of a whole population of what makes ou tree grow just because they also need food

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:34:49 UTC from web
                          1. @mushi They don't specifically make the trees grow. They just spit out seeds, which if anything is even worse because if you've ever planted trees before you don't want so many seeds in close proximity. Also, not a population. If anything, just a group that stumbled upon the orchard via the founder effect. Sure, they need food, but Applejack needs crops, so it sucks to be them. It can't always be a win-win situation in life.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:38:13 UTC from web
                            1. @northernnarwhal yeah, all the other people in the wolrd compete with me for food, money, job, ressources and everything, guess i might as well want them out of my world

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:40:47 UTC from web
                              1. @mushi That's why you compete. Also, people are not animals. And if anything, that only proves how it's impossible to share everything.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:42:28 UTC from web
                                1. @northernnarwhal you might not have realized you're talking someone who like the idea of animal rights

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:43:53 UTC from web
                                  1. @mushi I'm not denouncing animal rights, but you can't rationalize with an animal the same way you can with a human. Animals are instinctive and unpredictable. Sometimes drastic measures need to be taken.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:45:57 UTC from web
                                    1. @northernnarwhal yet, consciously or not, they are what make the forest to exist. Seaweed dont know they are giving us oxygen, do they deserve any less credit because of that?

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:47:52 UTC from web
                                      1. @mushi You're missing the point. In the case of seaweed, both parties are mutually benefiting, but the bats are an example of parasitism.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:50:21 UTC from web
                                        1. @northernnarwhal parasitism for the aples, maybe, but the overall effect to the appletress population is the non extiction

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:52:56 UTC from web
                                          1. @mushi Which they could've accomplished on their own. And the apple trees aren't growing back at the rate at which apples are being eaten. Not to mention, what about the apples Applejack needs for her crop? Yes, it is parasitism and not a mutual beneficiary.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:55:53 UTC from web
                                            1. @northernnarwhal how come polinizaion is a parasitic relationship? it is like saying haing sex is parasitic

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 22:57:31 UTC from web
                                              1. @mushi Because it's harmful pollination ("pollinization" isn't a word), and because it's over saturation in a specific area and because the trees don't grow back that fast. And no, having sex is not parasitic but there are definitely some countries in Asia with desperate need of birth control (heck, just look at the one child policy in China). I'm done arguing semantics with you, it's clear this isn't going anywhere.

Saturday, 28-Dec-13 23:03:11 UTC from web
                                                1. @northernnarwhal i guess none of us is going anywhere with that
