I find it odd how in the early seasons of Family Guy Brian made a lot of religious references but in the newer seasons he's an atheist
Monday, 20-Jan-14 04:05:13 UTC from web-
@pegasusninja It's because Seth MacFarlane is an atheist, and Brian became sort of a writer's surrogate. That is, the character that all the writers use to project their own opinions about politics and religion and other subject matter covered by the show.
-
@mrmattimation Every time I try to download that image you made of me it appears as a black screen
-
@pegasusninja Aw, mangoes, I think that might be the alpha transparency. Hang on, that's an easy fix.
-
@pegasusninja Here. This should do it. http://pny.lv/c0p
-
@mrmattimation I like how you gave me a mullet
-
@pegasusninja That's not a mullet even
-
@flamingpandaomg Well I don't know s*** about hair styles which is the reason why my hair is so messy, I just don't care how it looks
-
@mrmattimation Are you going to finish this later or no, I'm fine if you don't but I'd much appreciate
-
@pegasusninja You're really insistent on instant gratification when people do things for you out of their own generosity.
-
@flamingpandaomg Hold up, I need to read that ten more times til I can fully understand what you said
-
@pegasusninja You demand so much even though the people who are doing things for you aren't asking for any compensation. Between @beatstrings, @mushi and now @mrmattimation, you want everything to be done for you instantly or with little wait. You're too impatient. You say you're fine with waiting but if anyone is working on anything for you, you hound them consistently for it.
-
@mrmattimation It's fitting in light of that that Brian always takes himself so seriously. Hopefully Seth is more self aware
-
@flamingpandaomg *sigh* I know that, but every time I feel like they're going to forget, but I do wait 5-8 days before I ask now, and then it takes a long time so then it looks like I'm hounding them, so I can see where you're going with that but I'm trying to fix it
-
@pegasusninja Just don't remind them so much. Most of the people here have lives that they have to tend to first, and art that they're doing for free isn't anywhere close to the top of their list of priorities. It happens when it happens.
-
@tia I think it's a mix. He was certainly meant to look like a pretentious ass, but he's also meant to be the liberal voice of reason. Brian Griffin is an exaggerated caricature of Seth, basically.
-
@pegasusninja My personal approach is don't expect internet friends to come through for you, and when they do thank them abundantly.
William likes this. -
@tia But what if Internet friends are all you have?
-
@yodelerty Get better friends. :) Luckily RDN friends are better than most internet friends. Still.. get better ones.
-
@tia But people don't like me IRL
-
@yodelerty Want a self help book?
-
@tia Nothing can help my repulsiveness
-
@snowcone Either develop an interest in cow tipping or move I guess. Basically find people you share common interests with (obviously ponies may not be among those shared interests). Look for anime or gamer groups or local artists. Whatever your passion is.
-
@yodelerty So that's a no?
-
@tia What would it even do
-
@yodelerty Read it and find out. It's fairly short and free to download or read online. If it doesn't help then no loss I think. If you want it to help then take everything it says as truth even if you don't want to up until you've finished it. Try not to fight it along the way, though it can be a little incredible at parts.

My only criticism of the book is that it leaves out Christ's role as savior. -
@tia Please tell me this book doesn't tell me to put all my faith in The Lord and He will show me the way.
-
@snowcone Last resort, serve them. If you can't make friends through service then you're not serving hard enough.
-
@yodelerty My only criticism is that it fails to do exactly what you're afraid it does.
-
@snowcone soup kitchens, old folks' homes,hospitals, park cleanup, animal shelters.
-
@tia god forbid someone finds self-improvement through things other than your Lord
-
@snowcone Or y'know, just leave and hope for greener pastures elsewhere
-
@tia Ah. Could be good then.
-
@rarity I like how you say "god forbid" in this context.
-
@snowcone it all depends on how desperate you are for something to do.
-
@rarity The book offers an areligious perspective on a religious truth.
-
@tia would you stop trying to shove your faith down everyone's throats at the slightest chance
-
@rarity Please don't.
-
@rarity Never mind then.
-
@snowcone Spoon feed them so they don't starve due to their own idiocy?
-
@rarity I get the impression that you think almost anything conservative that I say is "shoving my faith down everyone's throat." Stop shoving your anti-faith down my throat please.
-
@tia I'm not "anti-faith". You can believe whatever the hell you want. Just keep it to yourself for mangoes sakes
-
@snowcone You get the gist though I hope. There's always something you can do if you just put yourself in the right place at the right time. No need to go too far out of your way usually I think.
-
@rarity I'm ignoring you now
-
@tia tell me, how am I anti-faith? Please explain it to me.
-
@redenchilada Thank you.
-
@redenchilada what is there to break up, Red? I'm being civil.
-
@redenchilada well, Red?
-
@rarity You're harassing Pony for every little mention of religion he makes and I'd like that to stop.
-
@redenchilada I'd like him to stop as well. Is my opinion less valid?
-
@rarity He's allowed to talk about his religion on here. You, on the other hand, aren't allowed to start arguments with him over his opinions. Those same rules are what allow you to discuss your religion (or lack thereof) on here, and what disallow him to bash you for those statements.
-
@redenchilada He needs to realize that no one cares about his faith-based opinions
-
@rarity If he's not offending or harassing the people he talks about them to, there's no harm in him talking about them.
-
@redenchilada He's offending me.
-
@rarity You addressed him first.
-
@redenchilada and this is a public site, is it not?
-
@rarity If he's sharing his views with other people and you respond to his posts complaining about how offended you are, you can't complain about being offended later. If his posts are really that triggering to you, there's a user hiding function in your settings and you can block him.
-
@redenchilada how many times do I have to say that the user hidden function doesn't work before you appless stop telling me to use it
-
@redenchilada he posts on a PUBLIC timeline about his views and then is surprised when someone doesn't like it. If he needs to spread his faith so badly, he can do it via DMs.
-
@rarity It hides the post just fine. You don't see the content.
-
@rarity Someone not liking what someone else posts does not mean they can't post it.
-
@redenchilada no, it doesn't. It's a click away, and you know that person posted. Why can't you make it so that it actually REMOVES the post? Is that too hard to do?
-
@rarity You could just not click it. I haven't changed the behavior yet because I don't care about the feature enough to mess with it.
-
@redenchilada did it occur to you that I'm not the only person who's sick of him espousing the joys of Mormonism all over? that maybe I'm just the only person who's spoken up because that's the kind of person I am?
-
@redenchilada As somebody who actually also believes that the hide user function doesn't do its job properly, I was just a little curious as to whether or not it would be easy to make the function actually hide the post without giving you a dialogue saying that the post is hidden?
-
@rarity Tell you what. I'll stop him from posting about his religion, and in return, you can't post about anthro sharks or fursuits. Sound reasonable?
-
@redenchilada sure!
-
@mrmattimation If the stubs bug you, a userstyle with
.hideUserT, .hideSpoilerT {display: none !important}
will hide them just fine.Pony likes this. -
@rarity You're gonna be whining next time you post a picture of a fursuit and I delete the post
-
@redenchilada I'm actually laughing that I tagged that with the group without meaning to
-
@redenchilada Neat.
-
@redenchilada it'll be worth it when you delete his posts. Uphold your end of the bargain and I'll hold mine, Red
-
@rarity You know I wasn't being serious, right
-
@redenchilada I called your bluff.
-
@rarity My point is that both sides were completely ridiculous artificial limitations. I wasn't "bluffing" anything.
-
@redenchilada if my shark girl talk upsets a lot of people, it's absolutely right to tell me to stop. I have no idea if it does, but I DO know that Pony's evangelism is cherriesing overdone and he needs to tone it back.
-
@rarity Too bad. You don't get to make that call.
-
@redenchilada and who says you do? You're no more qualified than me.
-
@rarity I'm a moderator. I have a responsibility to make those calls.
-
@redenchilada having the power=/=qualified. Just because you HAVE to make those calls doesn't mean you should.
-
@rarity If staff isn't qualified to make the calls, then who is? Your logic is flawed.
-
@redenchilada I am, and EVERYONE IS WRONG.
-
@redenchilada you assume that becoming staff somehow bestows you with the knowledge needed to make decisions of importance
-
@awlditzy *bows down*
William likes this. -
@rarity No, I assume that if I make bad decisions I'll be kicked off of staff. Or at least reprimanded.
-
@redenchilada But how does that make you any better at making decisions, then?
-
@snowcone Your town sounds scary. :|
-
@rarity My still being on staff means that a higher-up believes I'm qualified to make those calls.
-
@redenchilada things change
-
@rarity You wanna petition to get me off of staff? I won't stop you. Get some people who agree with you to bug Cerulean about it or something.
-
@redenchilada I'm not doing it again. I've promised people I wouldn't. that in no way changes my opinion though.
-
