  1. This one went WAY better. No over-melting, no lost beads. http://pny.lv/dmb

I made these too, as well as an ocarina of time but I gave the green lantern and the ocarina to my friend, so I don't have a picture of the ocarina. http://pny.lv/dmf

    5. @flamingpandaomg I can't help but think this pastime would be easier if the beads were square.

      1. @thelastgherkin Why would that be?

Friday, 24-Jan-14 17:05:04 UTC from web
        1. @flamingpandaomg I dunno, so lining them up would be easier or whatever.

          1. @thelastgherkin Squares are for squares though

          2. @thelastgherkin I think it would look better, mainly because pixels are square and these aren't, but I dunno if it'd be easier or not. If I had the ability to try square beads I would.

    6. @snowcone Ironing paper over them all and then pressing a clothes iron over it on medium heat for ~20-30 seconds, waiting 15 minutes for it to fully cool, and then do the same for the other side. I still have problems with spreading the heat equally so that's why I have some beads that just don't heat at all and others that melt fully and don't have a hole in the center any more.

    7. @snowcone @snowcone it doesn't bend, but I couldn't tell you if it's fragile since I don't really want to test it. You could drop it on the floor and it shouldn't break unless it's either a large design or if you didn't melt the beads well and they're hardly stuck together.

Friday, 24-Jan-14 17:50:01 UTC from web
    8. @snowcone no no. Once they're melted together it all becomes one slab of plastic, essentially. You don't want to use them as frisbees but they're a bit durable.

Friday, 24-Jan-14 17:54:57 UTC from web
    9. @snowcone Usually they do press together and when they cool off they're just stuck, which is more than what they were saying, but people also melt the bead completely, which makes it one chunk of plastic, like what I've done accidentally with Mario. http://pny.lv/dn2

    10. @snowcone I know. I was seeing if it looked better with or without the holes in the beads because my friend said he thought it looked better without. I'm still not sure which I prefer.

      1. @flamingpandaomg I feel like without holes means it's stuck more solidly. Also that either way works as long as it's uniform.

        1. @scribus With holes it's still stuck solidly, but I just think that without holes and when they melt into squares it looks more like pixels. Also, holes let the background behind them through, which irritates me sometimes.

          1. @flamingpandaomg Holes on one side, solid on the other!

            1. @scribus That's actually what I did with Mario. It looked fine to me, but if it's for myself I'll just deal with holes on both sides because I'm lazy and afraid to mess them up.

    11. @snowcone yeah I have no idea how to combine layers of beads.
