@darkw00d A disgrace for your country? Why? Lol, countries are a silly notion, and yours is not exactly in the top ten education wise. Individuals are the only thing that matters. Though even if you fail, you'll just have to do the course again.

@darkw00d Then you have to take the class again. If you ultimately fail to graduate, or fail to graduate with the GPA you'd like, you have the option of getting a GED.

@darkw00d General Equivalency Diploma. It's a group of tests you can take that verify you know all of the things you're supposed to have learned from High School and guage how well you know them. Scoring high on it is actually requires knowing more than getting a 4.00 GPA requires, so in some cases it can even be better than a high school diploma. Unfortunately most employers don't know this and assume it's worth less than a high school diploma, so if you end up having to get one make sure you go to college afterwards or your job possibilities will be more limited than usual (colleges are smart enough to know that it's at least as good as a high school diploma so they don't discriminate against it for admissions).

@toksyuryel Thing is, however, that while a GED may have a more rigorous test a "proper" diploma shows that you can put up with the requirements of an institution and play by the rules, which an employer would probably want an employee to be able to do.

@darkw00d Nope and nope. If you're going to take it, you take the whole test. Check with your city and state's information to find out where you can take it, but make sure you *really* know the stuff that's on it before you take it (you're only allowed so many retries). But you should probably try to graduate first before you consider this option, for reasons such as what @scribus mentioned, unless you're committed to only accepting employment on the basis of your college education (in which case any time spent in High School is effectively wasted).

@darkw00d It depends entirely on what your goals in life are, but if you want to keep your options as wide as possible then graduating high school with the highest GPA you can get is the best thing you can do

@cabal Eeyup. Actually kind of irritated the teacher because she knew I knew it, and she liked me, but I just didn't do the homework because it was massive and redundant and I aced the tests without it so I didn't see the point.

@scribus I was unable to make it that far, unfortunately. I blame what my high school did to their math classes more than anything though, it really just turned me off from it when before it used to be one of the only classes I loved.

@crusader8 I dunno, it's been over 10 years for me. I remember that carbon is so good for basing life off of it because of that 4 bonds thing, and silicon shares that property so that's why science fiction sometimes talks about silicon-based life, and furthermore there are various radioactive elements in the same column so in theory there could be radioactive-element-based-life somewhere or somewhen. Also, various jokes about Star Trek / Galaxy Quest. And how to make alcohol.

@darkw00d Nah, but as long as you have a non-crappy GPA they won't ask about any given class. If you have a crappy GPA then I hate to sound cruel but your one F probably doesn't hurt much. But I assume from your concern over the F that your GPA ain't bad, so... yeah.

@darkw00d In the current economy you'll be lucky to work at McDonald's and die in the street with a 4.0. XD But seriously, it's good, sure, but at the same time it really depends on what you do. Doing your best is always the best option, but failure isn't the end as long as you're willing to bounce back. People always prefer an average student who's a cool dude and a good worker to some genius showoff jerk.

@darkw00d Yeah, well... Again, it's important, but not life-endingly so. I had a friend who didn't graduate, ended up in the same job at the same place as me (with my AS, no less). Meanwhile, his brother got his GED or maybe "real" diploma, and he has a criminal record including jail time, two kids with two different women, and can't hold a job for a couple of months. Character means a hell of a lot more than paper.
