@neuraria Never once have I said people were getting rich from this stuff. All this proves is that AdBlock IS IN FACT hurting YouTubers because it's taking that very small amount of money and making it even smaller.
-
@mrmattimation I agree. But you can beg all you want and it's hardly going to make a difference, sadly.
-
@neuraria Oh, I know. I've absolutely given up, because nobody is ever going to give a mangoes and if I keep trying to convince people I'm just going to have more and more people hating me because now I'm just a whiny money-grubbing YouTuber.
-
@vt3c It don't mean much because I make very little from ad revenue anyway and I don't actually need it to survive.
-
@mrmattimation Clearly. That's something I dislike, and something I bet you do too. But waaaaay too many people expect everything for free. Disabling adblock for certain sites seems too much for them. Especially for folks like you, our time spent making this stuff isn't free.
But even if you up-front give them a way to support you, more often than not you won't get anything unless you're already like mega-popular. Remember Flattr? I had it linked up to all of my videos, all of my music, etc. Anybody who used it could have simply hit Like and donated a little bit. I never earned a single cent. -
@neuraria I would just drop it. It won't make a difference anyway and if somebody comes on and sees this I'll get blamed anyhow.
-
@neuraria That said I do earn a bit from my most popular videos. I earn a DOLLAR. Every month. Wow.
-
@mrmattimation Really? Do people on RDN really feel THAT strongly against compensation for a creator's work?
-
@neuraria The last time this came up, somebody (I won't name names) came on and instantly started accusing me of trying to start drama, so yes.
-
@mrmattimation Sigh.
-
@neuraria I don't blame them. You act like a bananas head, you get dole headedness in response, so I'm pretty sure I deserve this.
