so, since the xbox no longer recognise my pendrive as an HD, i've lost my oblivion saved game. I was thinking of creating another character, this time an argonian. any tips?
Monday, 14-Apr-14 14:18:51 UTC from web-
@mushi Hmmm, never played Oblivion. How close is it to Skyrim?
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx that i dont know for i have not played skyrim .-.
-
@mushi Then I suppose we are at an impasse. Someone else should know though! I think.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx IF ONLY THE OMNISCIENT @NERTHOS WAS HERE
-
@mushi Pray and your questions will be answered
-
@nerthos so, is the mage birth thing and the nightblade class a not bad choice for a argonian?
-
@mushi Yes. They rely on willpower, which makes your magicka regenerate faster, but a lack of intelligence makes your total magicka pool smaller. The mage birthsing will give you a bigger pool that will recharge decently fast. It's overall a good choice.
-
@nerthos oh, thanks ^^
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I've played skyrim and I own oblivion.
-
@scootaloo123 Heh, then Mushi needed a bit of help earlier. Think he's got it down though.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Oh okay. As far as I know people say oblivion is much better than skyrim but I'm too busy playing skyrim to care.
-
@scootaloo123 Ha, I can't hear you over the sound of all of the dragons I'm utterly destroying.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Dammit! Stupid elder dragons!
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Dual wield + attack speed buff
-
@nerthos I like setting everything on fire. Khajit fire mage for the win.
-
@rancidrob Yes very much. I saw skyrim first and played it first. therefore I like it more than oblivion. I'm really looking forward to elder scrolls online.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Argonion Assassin for the win! I love sniper bows.
-
@scootaloo123 I'll use a bow if I can snipe them, which is fun. I also like the mace of Molag Bal. Soul Trap yeahhhhh.
-
@rancidrob Oh well I have to get a new computer before I can even think of getting the new elder scrolls game.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx You know I like enchanting stuff but I always forget to cast soul trap.
-
@scootaloo123 That was one of the first things I did. Enchantment is pretty awesome. I don't dabble too much into alchemy though.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Kajhiits are the best. Also J'zargo is potentially the most powerful follower in the game unmodded since he has no level cap.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I just get a bunch of ingrediants and make a bunch of random potions. I actully have Light armor and Blacksmithing at LV 100
-
@nerthos I love running around as a giant cat! It's fun. And yeah, I've heard that about J'zargo. I may pick him up later if I get rid of any of my three.
-
@scootaloo123 I haven't quite cracked 100 on anything yet (Currently level 42 I think) but I know I can make glass armor which is awesome.
-
@nerthos Why can't you marry any Kajhiits?
-
@scootaloo123 I don't know. You can always get a mod or use a console command to fix that though.
-
@scootaloo123 There just aren't any marriable Kajhiits, i don't think it has to do with mechanics.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I'm at level 50 something and have dragon scale armor. It is so awesome!
-
@scootaloo123 I'm hoarding all my dragon scales for the day I can unlock that perk. But for now I look super fab in my teal glass armor.
-
@nerthos Well I have it on the Xbox and your background is giving me a seizure.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I usually use only one follower. Lydia, Serana, or J'zargo, depending on character. I took Lydia to
-
@scootaloo123 Katia on drugs
-
@mrmattimation I know it's just wierd that there are no marriable Kajhiits.
-
@nerthos I'm currently running with Gorr, Serena and Lydia. I'm a bit squishy when I run alone so if nothing else they're cannon fodder. They seem to get stuck a lot though and I wind up doing many closed in area (caves and the like) by myself.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Yeah that's what I did. What's your favorite house? Mine is the one in Markarth.
-
@nerthos So this really IS what it feels like to be high?
-
@scootaloo123 I'm currently very fond of Riften. I like the canals a lot.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Just get a set of armor to ~600 defense and put on some elemental resistance enchants and they won't harm you. Also, are you using the default archery or have you disabled the aim assist?
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Oh well I kind of like markarth because you get an awesome view of the city, and the inside is just cool looking.
-
@scootaloo123 Wouldn't know, I'm not into drugs
-
@nerthos I haven't tweaked those settings, so probably default. I don't believe I have any mods for archery.
-
@nerthos Oh okay.
-
@scootaloo123 I'm not certain I have that house yet. I'm working on becoming Thane of Everywhere but that gets expensive.
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@xeleanorxrigbyx "Thane of Everywhere"
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@mrmattimation You bet!
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Oh well if you want to become thane in the bigger cities you have to buy the house so I can see that getting very expensive.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx It requires messing with some settings in the .ini, there's a guide on it somewhere. I remember googling it and finding an article about disabling it. It was almost impossible for me to hit anything with the bow on skyrim prior to disabling it because I know how to use a bow IRL and skyrim's mechanics were outlandish.
-
@rancidrob Which city is that in again?
-
@scootaloo123 Right. I know Solitude is super expensive off the top of my head, but I know there are others.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Well the esiest one is whiterun.
-
@nerthos I'll have to look it up then. I know I've attempted to snipe people and just everything completely misses when I feel like it totally should have hit.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Just use alchemy for money. Buy all the ingredients and make potions, you sell them back and you turn a profit. You can also fast travel to a euin near whiterun and run towards the city, passing through a shrine of Zenithar (10% better prices)
-
@nerthos *to a ruin
-
@scootaloo123 Ha, yeah. I bought that way late in my currently playthrough for some reason.
-
@nerthos Hmmm, that's a good idea. Maybe I'll go home and try to fix the game again.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Oh well I actully had a playthrough where I killed the first dragon at level 20
-
@scootaloo123 I can't remember what level I finally wound up doing it at, but I haven't really touched the main quest much.
-
@rancidrob Oh okay that's why I didn't recognize the name.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx In my origonal file I never beat the main story.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Found it http://zemalf.blogspot.com.ar/2011/11/skyrim-archery-tweak.html (You might want to try changing the 0.7 values to 0.0 and see which works better))
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Don't you hate it when your in a heated battle and all of a sudden when you attack your companion gets in the way and you kill them. That's how I lost Lydia... Rest in Peace Lydia... You idiot.
-
@nerthos Oh cool, thanks! I'll see what this does if I can pull the game back up.
-
@scootaloo123 That happened with Hjoromir. He stepped in front of a spell and died and filled a soul gem for me! So now he's a cloak.
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@xeleanorxrigbyx It just removes distance compensation so that arrows shoot straight from your bow, instead of shooting higher.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Wow well it's his fault for being an idiot.
-
@nerthos Sounds interesting.
-
@scootaloo123 I thought about loading for a split second, but he had outlived his usefulness and now he gets to be a cloak. He's more useful this way.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Pfft I tried to save Lydia but she did the same exact thing and I'm like, "okay forget it Lydia is an idiot!"
-
@scootaloo123 Thankfully one of the perks you can get from Hermaeus Mora's books in the Dragonborn expansion turns off friendly fire
-
@nerthos THAT. IS. AWESOME! I could use my call storm shout and not kill my partner!
-
@nerthos Oh is that where it came from? I took the perk which is nice. Isn't that the one where you go to that other island area?
-
@scootaloo123 Yep. You can either pick no friendly fire or another boon, but that one is just so useful I never change it.
-
@scootaloo123 Hahahah, Byeeee Lydia! Not like she really adds much dialogue.
-
@nerthos Boon? Do you meen wife?
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Yep! Solstheim. I liked that expansion because of the daedric plane and boons, the Telvaani wizard questline and the nordic carved armor.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I was sooo mad at that! I made her a set of Dragon plate armor!
-
-
@nerthos Yeah, the daedric plane was a lot of fun to play.
-
@scootaloo123 Take it back and give to next poor sucker companion!
-
@nerthos So wait what does it mean in game? Another stone?
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Lydia is the only follower I felt really attached to tho. Her standing in doorways, triggering traps and complaining about carrying weight grew on me.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Good one but I'm traveling with the only companion who's character is just like mine. She prefers light armor.
-
@scootaloo123 No. You get it from a book. It's an effect in your active effects list under magic.
-
@nerthos HEH
-
@nerthos "I am sworn to carry your burdens..." DON'T GIVE ME LIP LYDIA.
-
@scootaloo123 Awww lame.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I always liked Hermaeus Mora, plus the in-game books that talked about it made it seem magical. It's a shame that you can't use any of the millions of books piled up all around.
-
@nerthos Oh is it kind of like that passive affect from getting all the stones of whatever the hell his name was?
-
@scootaloo123 Basically, yeah
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Well it's kind of better because she actually sneaks with me and doesn't run blindly into battle.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I spent more time running around with Lydia than with my wife. The only reason she hasn't yet divorced has to be fear of the dragonborn's power. Or maybe the piles of riches thrown all around the house.
-
@nerthos Oh okay that's cool but I think I'd go with no friendly fire. That's just my opinion.
-
@nerthos You can get married in that game? Man I'm out of the loop.
-
@scootaloo123 No friendly fire is exactly what that boon grants.
-
@scootaloo123 Yeah, Lydia is a bit loud.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I married Ysolda to get her to show up again since she had fallen through the floor and died.
-
@nerthos Oh okay.
-
@nerthos I'm an strong independent Khajiit that don't need no man.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx In my experience every companion I've been with is extremely loud.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Plus there's no kajhiit to marry so that'd mean a blasphemous inter-species relationship would be the only option.
-
@nerthos Well that doesn't make sense because I'm an argonian and I married a nord.
-
@nerthos What's the weirdest I can go? I wonder if I can find an Argonian.
-
@scootaloo123 BLASPHEMY! HERESY! BY THE NINE, HOW CAN SUCH A THING BE!
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I really miss the argonians and kajhiit making fun of eachother in the earlier games.
-
@nerthos I do get a lot of insults generally ending in "cat" and a lot of digs of smelling like a dog due to the whole werewolf thing.
-
@nerthos If it makes you happy I can't have kids with her so you won't see half nord half argonian kids running around.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Sure you can marry an Argonian.
-
@scootaloo123 Alright, cat lizard babies awayyyy
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I did the entire questline to cure lycantrophy for all the companions and then went for vampirism like I did in the other games in the series since otherwise my character would be mortal. No daedric apotheosis or corprus like the other games.
-
@scootaloo123 Talos would strike them down anyway
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I'm gonna warn you they will come out in an egg. You may need to sit on them till they hach since your the mother.
-
@nerthos I wouldn't let him I'd rather Fight him myself then let him strike my kids!
-
@nerthos I like running around and tearing stuff up. Good times.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx At least it won't hurt as much as kajhiit babies. Read The Real Barenziah to understand why.
-
@scootaloo123 That sounds like a horrible abomination of a baby. I don't even want to think about what a lizard/cat mix looks like.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx http://rainbowdash.net/url/753178 Something like this. Just ignore the chicken parts.
-
@scootaloo123 Yeah that's terrifying.
-
@nerthos Heh, that last one is funny.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx I rarely use transformations, they tend to make my character more vulnerable.
-
@xeleanorxrigbyx Yeah Now imagine it walking around on two legs and talking to you. There is your nightmare fuel.
-
