@tiffany I've been meaning to start on that. Can you recommend it personally ?
-
@critialcloudkicker It is easily one of the best shows I've watched. It's Breaking Bad-tier good in my opinion, if that's helpful to you at all
-
@tiffany It would if I had like seen Breaking Bad before all the spoilers on the internet made me go *ugh* ...
I am still more motivated to go see Breaking Bad than I am Walking Dead though, mid S3 I was like "It's like a hidden force MAKES them go out to get eachother, something fat in a directors chair most likely" -
@tiffany @critialcloudkicker Loved the original British version. I haven't looked at the American reboot.
-
@critialcloudkicker The Walking Dead is a very bad show, that's for sure. Breaking Bad has a lot of value in its overarching story and themes to be honest; even having been spoiled before watching it, the experience as a whole was still excellent, and I didn't feel worse for knowing what would happen.
Scribus likes this. -
@bornlibre I haven't seen the original, but I highly recommend the reboot either way
-
@tiffany Tell me more about how The Walking Dead is a bad show please
-
@critialcloudkicker It's EXTREMELY formulaic. That would be fine if it were its own formula, but the cut-and-paste 'running from zombies forever while all your fellow survivors get picked off but then you meet more survivors, ad infinitum' dreck has nothing to add to the genre. The show relies SOLELY on the hype around zombies, and uses them as a crutch in lieu of any real plot or character development--both of which are heavily lacking in TWD--but the fans are appeased by the occasional zombie ambush. Overall, I suppose the show isn't an active detriment to television, it's just... unoriginal, uneventful and kind of pointless. It's kind of a zombie in and of itself: slow, bland and devoid of cognition.
-
@tiffany I am not exactly sure how a TV show can be formulaic, nor do I know how a show can be devoid of cognition. But I do recognize everything you have said here to weigh in on my TWD fattigue mid season 3. The primary people whom I was rooting for or against ( ) were killed off or wouldn't be long for faster than I could enjoy their attitude. Now I know that there are only 2 of them alive in the season before last ( Internet spoiled ) and 1 of them in the last/this season due to covers... Soo... I'm probably gonna save TWD for when I have some recovery to do, recover from lazer eye sirgury or maybe near zombiefying influenza... Or would you reckon not even THAT is worth it ?
-
@critialcloudkicker Honestly? If I had all the time in the world I'd go out of my way to watch TWD, but that's because I think ANY show is worth watching from a creative perspective, if only to evaluate its weaknesses and learn from them. I'm glad I watched as much as I did, just so I feel justified in complaining about it. If you feel inclined to watch more, then go for it. If you're looking for something that's actually substantial, then find something else. I guess it depends on what your priorities are when it comes to media.
-
@tiffany You somewhat remind me of how I think ALL game-developers should play Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Jekyll_and_Mr._Hyde_(video_game) ) due to it being an absolute gemstone from a creative perspective. But mostly only to evaluate how to lean from it's numerous weaknesses.
Oh, and also Star Wars Battlefront because of the absolute HORRID map designs -
@critialcloudkicker Battlefront had maps?
-
@tiffany Battle of Jakku is a map, and the design of that map is simply horrid, it makes everyone into a gung-ho rambo incarnate with grenade-spamming-implants that tickle them as soon as it is off of cooldown. Hoth Echo Base is almost the opposite side of the spectrum, going outside is suicide due to snipers and smartrockets ( instead everyone hugs the walls and whatnot underground trying to rush objectives, somewhat )
-
@critialcloudkicker I'm not really one to talk about video games since I almost never play them
-
@tiffany All work and no play make Jack a dull boy... Let's just say I used to know a LOT about video games and that I seriously need a vacation. Still what do you play if you do ?
-
@critialcloudkicker not much more than Pokémon nowadays. Now that I have money to blow I might pick up more 3DS games, but I haven't played much recently aside from mobile and Flash games
-
@tiffany Ugh, mobile games. Someone pushed Bio.Inc. on me a few weeks ago, and it is kinda cool, but it eats both my battery and is WAY too full with stupid 3D effects that make it slow as hell to boot. I have a Samsung S4 with a custom ROM running Marshmallow, which makes me think that the game is probably very unoptimised, or just ported from a more beefier system without too much thought. But feel free to share some that I should look into.
-
@critialcloudkicker I have a... Galaxy A3, I think? 2014 model, and I lose like 50% of my battery if I use it all day at school
-
@tiffany 2015, even
-
@critialcloudkicker Finally, someone else who run a custom ROM! This site really is full of surprises!
-
@eyepie Speaking of which, I should probably fetch that latest update packages ( which means reinstall the whole thing ) because due to a dialer bug somewhere I am not capable to dial 112 right now ( which is like 911 in Europe ) ... But you know, procrastination, since I am not planning to call that number.
-
@critialcloudkicker I mean, Titanium Backup exists for good reason...
-
@eyepie Which is not to lose your progress in that Gameloft game, right ?
-
@critialcloudkicker it backs up the data for EVERY app, so when you refllash you keep your apps
