      @scoot I've been seeing a LOT of stuff about it on Tumblr in the last couple of days. I personally don't care but I've seen more people complaining about people who complain about CalArts than people actually complaining about CalArts.

        @mrmattimation Same, it's getting a little annoying and I've not seen anybody with a valid argument in favour of CalArts yet.

          @scoot I saw one that was like "um do you know CHARACTER design???????? if u can tell the silhouette it doesn't MATTER what the actual style is" and another that was like "all art looking the same is good they did it in the renaissance all the time". What really bugs me is that people are treating it like it's a cardinal SIN to criticize the fact that a lot of cartoon characters today have relatively the same facial structure and big, toothy grin.

            @mrmattimation I saw that first one, which falls apart because the argument is that they have the same face, not the same silhouette. Their designs are great, but they would look better if they had unique smiles. Design trends will always be a thing, but it's not exactly always good and it should be critiqued like all art.
