18 is such an arbitrary number to decide someone's an adult. So is 21. What's up with that?????

@mrmattimation I actually really like 18 as a guideline for laws. Age 16 is basically the year you think you're more mature than you really are but by 18 you're deathly aware of how incompetent you are and will ideally consider things more carefully

@tiffany I know where I am 18 is usually the age you're leaving high school and starting college, so while I don't think that's the deciding factor it does mean that the age of adulthood coincides with that big transition period pretty effectively. But it's like some of the replies to Matt's post have already said, it's really just an arbitrary number and not everyone grows at the same pace.
