I URGE any Sanders supporting Americans on RDN who are of voting age to NOT turn to Trump in anger should Clinton get the nomination. If the election ends up being Trump vs. Clinton - which is the more likely outcome, at this point - vote Clinton. I get it, the system is broken and you're papayaed off. But if you vote for Trump simply because he's like Bernie and he's not a part of that system, you're raging against the wrong machine.

@mrmattimation I feel like if someone who previously supported Bernie is voting for Trump in that situation they don't really understand Bernie's platform

@narwhal A very good amount of Bernie Sanders supporters support him mostly because he's against the system. If Clinton gets the nomination, a lot of independents who would've voted democrat otherwise will DEFINITELY vote Trump because he, like Sanders, is threatening to dismantle our current political system and all these people care about is making sure the system fails.

@narwhal It's not so much about the platform as it is the passion of uprooting the normal ways of politics, changing the status quo.

@awl I mean, both of them are taking what could be considered comparable courses of action, but that's why I'm saying there's a misunderstanding of platform. People following those politicians for those reasons are following them for really lousy reasons.

@narwhal Right, but most people aren't looking at that. They're looking at "who's going to change the political process the fastest?" Hillary Clinton is a slave to the establishment so she's immediately out of the question. That just leaves Bernie and Trump, and I guarantee you that come the general election, many liberals who once supported Bernie will reason with "Hillary isn't gonna change anything!!!!! Trump will change everything!!!!! Vote Trump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

@m14brony One of them will uphold the status quo, lie a bunch, and pander to every interest group that comes their way. The other one wants to pull us out of NATO, give nukes to Japan and South Korea, and make enemies of a bordering nation, which Russia will absolutely swoop in on and start making trade deals with, strengthening their economy and crippling ours because of all of the trade wars we'll be in.

@mrmattimation Both of them will uphold the status quo that benefits a small, opulent oligarchy. Donald Trump, being a right-wing demagogue and crass opportunist, most likely doesn't believe 98% of the stuff he is saying to the electorate.

@mrmattimation Trump has a history of "flip-flopping," which is made evident by his support of universal healthcare and a ban on "assault weapons" in the past. He also hired immigrants and relied on Chinese labor to produce goods. Trump's brash show of confidence plays on the fears and frustrations of ordinary people fed up with both the Democrats and traditional Republicans. But being a wealthy oligarch, like Hillary, he would work to defend the interests of wealthy oligarchs. It isn't feasible to make Mexico pay for a Berlin Wall or to round up 11 million illegal migrants.
Even if Trump somehow endangered the interests of the capitalist class as a whole, they would find a way to remove him from power.
