@pony Last week I saw a doctor owing because my desire to end my own life had graduated from idle speculation to concrete planning and acquisition of the requisite artifacts. He has referred me to emergency psychiatric help, and was on the verge of forcibly admitting me to a mental hospital for my own protection. He has judged me "unfit to work" and provided me with a medical certification with which to present my employers stating this fact. Whilst they cannot legally dismiss me for being ill, they are immoral and unpleasant people, and will no doubt use my absence to find some other pretext to fire me. All weekend I've been grappling with the resultant question: My mental health, or my job? I still don't have an answer.

@renovatedkitchen Well in that case, I'm bound to never find a job. I had to go to a psychiatric hospital when I was 18. I think there are probably employers out there willing to look past it.

@alptraummond I'm sorry bud #Hugs I could see it as a barrier in a way, unless the employer is in support of helping people. I should have been in a mental hospital too at a point. Probably would have helped.

@ceruleanspark that is big. On the one hoof I'm really happy to hear you have the opportunity to receive help, but I'm sad to hear your employers are so aweful. Can't you defend yourself if they fire you? Is there no recourse?

@ceruleanspark If you're that far gone, I'd definitely say mental health. I must question how you keep yourself so tame on here with it when there are others who are undoubtedly in better condition who constantly complain about such moods, though.
