      1. @nerthos @jojoax Yeah. Most of my classmates didn't bother using it. I liked it though and used it through middle school.

        1. @pony I always found it bothersome and unpractical. And hard to read, too.

          2. @nerthos I thought it looked awesome and my grandpa would send me letters written in it so I wanted to write in it too as a little kid. Then it stuck.

            1. @pony It looks awesome when written by an old man who used it all his life. When written by a kid, it's awful.

      1. @thelastgherkin well.. I'm probably off about the "script" thing. They just called it cursive in my school too, but there was a long unit on in 3rd grade.

      2. @thelastgherkin Here too, and teachers insisted on it, but I was used to books and magazines since far before school, so I didn't listen. That's what they get for trying to teach me letters when I already know how to write.

        1. @nerthos I follow rules and do as I'm told. I tried as hard as I could to learn this newfangled "joined-up writing" and I still use it now, but because I was forcing myself to use it, my handwriting has turned out terrible.

          1. @thelastgherkin My handwriting is pretty crappy too, but my refusal to learn cursive was mostly out of spite. It was slower to use than the one I already knew, and I considered an insult having to sit through hours of drawing letters among dozens of kids who knew nothing. The refusal of the teacher to acknowledge the fact that kids can and should be taught to read and write at home didn't help. Later on, when I had caligraphy as an assignment, being told that it was neccesary for technical drawing, I managed to get used to readable handwriting.

            1. @nerthos And with that post I just noticed how much my English has improved since I started using this site, almost a year ago.
