@thelastgherkin My handwriting is pretty crappy too, but my refusal to learn cursive was mostly out of spite. It was slower to use than the one I already knew, and I considered an insult having to sit through hours of drawing letters among dozens of kids who knew nothing. The refusal of the teacher to acknowledge the fact that kids can and should be taught to read and write at home didn't help. Later on, when I had caligraphy as an assignment, being told that it was neccesary for technical drawing, I managed to get used to readable handwriting.
