@nerthos Well, war's are never really fought or gone to with 100% of the people's backing it seems. Just a small majority of any party and generals behind closed doors will do that. It sorta does not help whether you're with a nationality that did something though. I mean, the Baby Boomer generation ( and perhaps most of Generation X ) still despise germany in their hearts, despise only like 5% of nazi germany's populus being nazi's. Point is that judgement is in the eye of the beholder. And I am pretty sure I could find some smut on Argentina's past if I read through a good book. But it would be uttermost silly to hold a grudge against someone because of what their country did. Or in reverse ... Still it's only natural to vilify your foes, and at this point I am pretty sure noone wants to go for tea with ISIS. Because everyone seems in agreeance that "they are the bad guy". Just like what my uncle ( a few times over ) said about the Falkland War.
-
@northernnarwhal I actually find it pretty darn amazing that RDN is still alive and kicking. Even though I have no idea who is running RDN as of late, or who the mods are. I'm pretty glad that RDN is still up for me to lurk when I want to lurk, or post. ... Also, I wonder who would call a mod that is about to ban you a "whatever", it just sounds wrong. Does that happen often ?
-
@nerthos I might have your location wrong. But the Falkland war, although not long, harsh, nor something were a lot of civilians were involved was rather... Nasty... for just a 2 country war. Only using the statistics of death's in both armies as guideance I'd wager it about one twelfth of WW2 in severity, but again, just 2 involved countries. And there were quite a few PoW camps... I really doubt there are much more really clean-handed countries though. Then again it's kind of impossible to do any measuring in the first place

Waiting till other people are ready is really boring. I should probably take my time a bit more, side effects may be that I'll become an wee bit asshole though

@taknamay Where's that ? /r/dadjokes ?

@awl ... Because your father-in-law is in IT himself ? or...
-
@adiwan Err... you are talking about the "Oh that is so nerdy"*laughtrack* stuff ?
-
@adiwan In my opinion it's one of the better recent brittish shows :) ... And as far as TV shows with nerds as main cast goes, it puts The Big Bang Theory to shame IMHO
-
@bobo What ? I always put controllers in that port :o
-
@bobo It actually has one of these though. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/825098

I found and polished an old logitech steering wheel that probably uses USB 1.1 to be powered, it works. On USB at least, I can not speak for the Playstation 2 or Gamecube connectors... But what to do with it... I might as well take it to the first LAN party and give it to the first person who would like to have it.
-
@adiwan Oh, that also still happens in Germany eh ? Darn WW2. Out here in the sticks the locals have actually started to put down betting pools on the next one that is going to be found. It's surprisingly easy to tell Brittish made and German made bombs from eachother ( especially the airdropped kinds ), and it might actually have to do something with [inserts image] ... It's a good series BTW :) ( just not about WW2, or bombs ) http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/825097

Aparently it's pink monday

Does anyone have any positive or negative things to say about the PNY brand ? I got enough store credit to finance two thirds a 970 GTX with a local store, but they only carry PNY.

@soren I hope that gives you enough time to prepare for the transition into fatherhood. The transition from any position pre-fatherhood into fatherhood is always about as smooth as driving a stick shift diesel powered 10T truck. You have all of my good luck blessings :)
-
@soren Ohh, congratulations, what is the estimated time of arrival for the little soren V2.0 ?
-
@darkcore \(._.\) ƪ(‘-’ ƪ)(ʃ ‘-’)ʃ (/._.)/ I can do ascii faces too

@mushi He's wearing a mask ! He probably has something to hide !
-
@bobo Because I love silly things, I like sharing silly things, I love laughing, and, so should you :)
-
@adiwan ehmm. I think we call them "Persoonsvormen". Something you put in front of things like posessions depending on the kind of owner. "Ihr, euch, euch, euer, hund." And "Sie, Sie, Ihnen, Ihrer, hund." ( wheras the dog is only there as the "target" of "you" in singular or plural nominative, accusative, or, ehmm, dative and generalized ?... ) I know it is neither a prime concern as I would be off way better extending my vocabulary, but something I have to deal with at one point or another and look up against like a flying brick that is camping to headbutt me, or looks to at least wreck my shin. And in turn ruin my day. Aber, erlich, ich konne Deutch sprechen mit mendchen im mein vorseitte, jedoch, ich fühl mich wie ein kleinkind.

@bobo I do not think I am going to like this bro-speak. I am thinking about http://pny.lv/jpnc by the way

http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/wiki/Steam_achievements_in_Civ5/Six_Degrees_to_Sid ... It also seems to be bugged... Bugged achievements ... *growling feral noizes*
-
@adiwan Agreed. How about "start a multiplayer game with 2 best friends" or "6 degrees from Cid Meyer" ?
-
@adiwan yeah... Those are just dumb achievements IMHO. In fact Saints Row with the "collect a million / all pieces of xxx" are pretty much borderline in my book. Also there are games that tie in achievements with seasonal events. I have a huge dislike for those 3 antics though. Achievements should not be either giveaway's for doing things normally, or rewarding no-life grinding. That's not achieving anything, that's a 101 course into obsessity ( word ? ).
-
@adiwan "some" games are worth achievement collecting though. But the amount of worthwile games is ever so small. If the word "collecting" becomes "grinding" though, not worth the grind.
-
@adiwan Alllthough... I do not really "collect" games in the same sense you do. I need more flea markets for that :) Still there are still games in my posession that have either not or not even 10 minutes played, yet I still buy more. That's inexcusable capitalist behaviour :(
-
@adiwan Funny. I did the same thing with Kingdoms of Amalur quite recently. Got all of the achievements to boot ( perfect game ) because I thought I could. And I pulled it off :) Best 5 Euro's I've ever spend for such a great feeling of accomplishment :) ... More games will follow in the future, although not with all achievements ofc, all achievements in super meat boy ( for example ) would be quite cuicidal.
