@thelastgherkin Gee. I don't know what it is, but I like it. I know that this is not at all appropriate, but I really want to touch it.

@fnordly You and I both.

My computer is not a Brony. It has been acting up for a while, but it just had to stop working as soon as I searched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic yesterday.

@herbalgreen Oh. Oh dear oh dear.
-
@herbalgreen What's funny is that when the flame-wars began long ago between artists and educators using Apple and everyone else using the PC, there were two differing processors, the Intel and clones of it (like AMD) and the Motorola CPUs used in the Macintosh. Microsoft ripped off the GUI (or did they both just steal one from DEC? whetever); GNU+Linux ripped off Microsoft's market share; Apple shoved the new-comer to free, open-source software into their basket by using the Intel and AMD chips and BSD Unix. Androids are the new Mac. The Mac OS/X is just a... (How do I put this gently?) Dude, you got a Dell.
-
@fnordly Mac OS X is a highly polished, consumer-friendly unix derivative. In being such, it lacks both the power of Unix *and* the usability of classic Mac. I will *never* forgive Apple.

He's USING THE ALL CAPS, calling me a retard, talking down to me, all because I feel that for me the Palm series is bad hardware to my larger hand size. I can't take much more of this, I miss the friendly debates of this site, I wish it were like that everywhere I went, where I could talk to people with differing opinions and not feel like dirt. I hate to sound emo, but this is one of the few people I have to confide in outside of the internet, and he talks down to me on a frequent basis.

@mrdragon Well in Primary school it only happened in one small phase, Sixth Form it happened occasionally, College next to never, but secondary school bar for making one or two friends I'd like to keep in touch with (but one is at uni in another city and has closed his Facebook, and the other is now in Sweden) was an experience I'd rather forget. It's left me with a permanent fear of people I don't know, I'm not agoraphobic but still.

Back from camping!
-
@theawesomepony ty. Yoi wouldn't think it, but after awhile, walking on sand gets tiring.
-
@derps ty? i guess where did you go camping
-
@derps I don't just think it! I used to walk a mile every morning for a few weeks in the sand through three cities on the edge of Jacksonville, Florida, the biggest city in the world. If you think that that is bad, try the bogs of the Gulf of Mexico near Tampa, Florida. It is the single, most concentrated grounding of lightning bolts and always has been. People from Tampa are called Tampons.

Good evening! Today a fly flew into my eye and I thought it was notable.
Friday, 19-Aug-11 17:24:04 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin I've seen a house fly. I've seen a horse fly. I've seen a dragon fly. I've seen a rubber band, a (something) and a needle that winked its eye... but it beat everything that I've ever seen, when I saw an elephant fly.

@mrbrown Your icon is adowable.

@fnordly Well, now that song is going to be stuck in my head all day.

@mrbrown @mrdragon What is *really* funny is that those two links were clever hidden in a discussion about our failed technology in education. Bash.org while named after BSD Dash-script is an archive of IRC among script kitties, and Ascorbic.net is an archive of the chat in the margins of the encyclopedia which we like to refer to as Everything2.com

@extremedash I see you like having revenge. You're probably having fun doing this. :p

@extremedash I don't get a lot of prank calls. I tend to do my trolling in omegle or TF2.

@pinhooves Pssh of course I am! I live off this stuff!

@zachariastargazer It is unfortunate that math and technology and medicine and legal defense and government are some of those things where either you get it and it is easy or it is complicated and you get got by those that don't get the big picture but want to control and compete rather than comfort and share.
Friday, 19-Aug-11 16:25:50 UTC from web-
@zachariastargazer Hey! I used to do that :D Immaturity was awesome back when I was in school. Especially as education was just pointless for me.
-
@zachariastargazer Well, for me I have no need for such education. My main focus is on working, and by working I mean as much in the manual labour field as possible. A lot of people in the UK just got their results from their tests yesterday. and my joke is, they are now smarted then the people who are going to be handing over their unemployment benefits. heheh.
-
@zachariastargazer Yeah, I can see that. Back to studying Mr! Whilst we enjoy ourselves.

I bought the Fluttershy playset today. You know, except for gender-swapped Angel, it's not actually too bad.

@lilytheamazingfaintingpony I do not doubt that there are many cute little rodents where that one came from. It is unfortunate that bunny rabbits don't fly as well as squirrels when used as golf balls, but maybe that is part of their design.

@lilytheamazingfaintingpony I have had a problem with exactly one upload and only today. Maybe @purpletinker is tinkering? All is well that winds well.

@fnordly @purpletinker does like too tinker :P But we would have her no other way.

@mrdragon I never can remember the comedian's name, but he had an awesome skit where he would change costumes and play several parts including Pinocchio and the old man saying, "Off the lawn! Darned kids won't stay off the goshed darn lawn... What you do is shake your fist at them. That will learn 'em."
-
@fnordly Hehe, I have heard it. But I am in the same boat, no idea who it was.

@communistprime If you were, you didn't say anything. Not that there's anything wrong with that; just saying. :) I hope that it was a good day!

@zachariastargazer I loved it when my high-school teacher of Algebra and Geometry slammed the chalk down and asked if I wanted to teach the class, so I did... for a whole week.

@elind85 enjoins you via twitter.com/elind85 to "boycott General Mills, they just rescinded sponsorship of an ABC Family show because it has lesbian character…" (cont) t.co/yFyBmov ... This is relevant to the RDN, because Hasbro needs to make some breakfast cereals for us, and it is not high enough on the list on @purpletinker's survey.

I love playing GTA III, if there's an ambush in a mission and you can get to where the ambushers are, just summon a tank with a cheat, blow them to kingdom come and the car chase is avoided. Good times, good times :P I have so much nostalgia for this game !vgp
Friday, 19-Aug-11 14:10:34 UTC from web-
@leonkfox You and that one guy that I worked with at Walmart that had some taste. I never get to play games as much as I want, but throughout my life, I have gone from OG Mario and Zelda to the Realms of Despair MUD to GTA Vice City to San Andreas. It seems that San Andreas' 13 square miles and mods for the PC version and the depth and breadth of RDN + Ponychan + mush is plenty for me to stay lost in for the rest of my life.
-
@leonkfox I also have GTA Liberty City Stories for the PS2 and PSP and GTA III for the PS2 and have played them a little. I guess that I will have to spend as much time with GTA III, as I have with Vice City for fairness. When one has "found a raisin," it is because they have found something in one of those few really great adventure games and will probably be playing this sub-game until someone drags them, kicking and screaming from the console.

Why in Celestia's name would you think, when confronted with an employee who is off work due to stress, that it'd be a good idea to call them and yell at them?

@ceruleanspark My computer always works just fine (besides possibly Windows Movie Maker) and it's a Windows 7 machine running on ancient hardware. It was on XP, but 7 actually IMPROVED its performance which amazed me since 7 is a more demanding OS.
-
@leonkfox I mainly use XP, though I really like 7 (the OS and the movie), but it is also a nagging reminder of the more general problem with our technology. Vista was so lame, because it failed to let you use all 64 bits of the processor while using you 32-bit games. Windows 7 works, but the 32-bit processes are mechanically interpreted to run on a 64-bit machine. Then, there is the AMD64 vs the Intel Architecture. It appears that in order to do ones duty to Princess Luna and all of her ponies, one would need to have three compilations for every single program without even considering OSX or Linux or Android.
-
@ceruleanspark I used to be one of those Linux fanboys that would tell you that Windows sucks. Before that, I was a PC hobbyist and enthusiast that would troll you for being a Dude You Got a Mac.
