@l1ghtsword No, no, my pet rats. Not wild pest rats.
-
@l1ghtsword I wouldn't be so sure of that. I mean, The Mess is everybody's fault, but my contributions (while small) have been especially pain-in-the-assy. And then there's the rats, whose odor has been brought up a time or two....
-
@l1ghtsword That's what's turned me off from ever trying it in the past
-
@l1ghtsword Yeah I prefer subtractive synthesis so TB is way more up my alley, along with stuff like Subtractor and Thor in Reason.

@l1ghtsword I haven't tried Bitwig myself so you'll have to let me know how that goes
-
@l1ghtsword I mean Harmor's kinda crappy but I've gotten some really great sounding synths out of Toxic Biohazard and Sytrus
-
@l1ghtsword Well I mean FL isn't a bad DAW by any margin (there really aren't "bad" DAWs, just more advanced ones) and you can certainly produce professional sounding tracks on FL, but lately I've been using Reason for lots of electronic tracks and Pro Tools for mixing and the grass is way greener on the other side of the fence. Amazing software. Modular synths are super cool though and I'd love to get one, I've played around on old Moogs before and some of those classic 80s sounding sines are gorgeous. Arturia make some great products, I'm really tempted to get a Key 88, there are a ton of encoders and faders that give you so many options for levels and automation.
-
@l1ghtsword Keep at it man. Even if it's just as a hobby for fun, keep doing it if it makes you happy. By the way, you still using FL?

@l1ghtsword "The plan called for a group of fighters and the Millennium Falcon piloted by Lando Calrissian to attack the Death Star upon destruction of the shield generator. The fighters flew into the center of the station through a narrow maze of pipes to destroy the reactor directly and rushed out in just enough time to escape the ensuing explosion before the station could carry out its final order: destroying the Sanctuary Moon of Endor.... prior to its destruction, an evacuation order for all non-essential personnel was also called.[14]"

@l1ghtsword Yeah, audio engineering is the most feasible reconciliation of what I'm passionate about with what I can pursue as a sustainable career
-
@l1ghtsword There was no way a torpedo could blow up an entire StarDestroyer! I looked at the Schematics, and the hole was too small!
-
@northernnarwhal Regrets not putting more thought into what i Actually wanted to do more... not just what im good at.
-
@l1ghtsword Yeah, I could even potentially get jobs working on video games
-
@l1ghtsword Luckily I'm going into audio engineering so there are career opportunities outside of music for stuff like sound design and post-production in television and film.
-
@l1ghtsword dude you have rats?
-
@l1ghtsword Thank you.
-
@l1ghtsword My setup is legit just a Blue Snowball sitting in a closet lined with blankets.
-
@l1ghtsword The iPhone 6 actually has a decent microphone.
-
@l1ghtsword Yeah, I like how complex synths can get when you start layering a ton of waveforms on top of each other and using low and high pass filters to remove a ton of frequencies. Synthesis is cool.
-
@l1ghtsword Yeah, I mean, I've had people record dialogue on an iPhone before and it sounds OKAY, it's just not preferable when I've got a Blue mic right here.
-
@l1ghtsword I found the college work in that field stressful in itself, so I could only imagine it being even worse in the workplace. After a number of years (I shied away from studying to be an attorney or life scientist of some sort due to the high investment and questionable job prospects), I finally "bit the bullet" and returned to learn the HVAC trade (I got a job in this trade a couple of months ago).
-
@l1ghtsword She's a stage actor so she doesn't exactly have a voice setup.
-
@l1ghtsword I could not do something like that for a living, I can't even do it as a hobby lol
-
@l1ghtsword I majored in IT and computer networking straight out of high school, but I dropped out of it (I found it to be more stressful than enjoyable).
-
@l1ghtsword Yeah, today's class was all about subtractive synthesis. It's really interesting and a lot of fun.
-
@l1ghtsword coding is tough for sure
-
@l1ghtsword It's just something I'm learning as I go along.
-
@l1ghtsword I know I'm going to school for audio engineering which involves sound design
