  2. @ceruleanspark Thx, that's good to read. Thanks to all for all your replies within 3 minutes, it's a very active community on Rainbowdash :-)

  3. @cabal @nerthos Hi. A statusnet security issue has been discovered and @erkanyilmaz@oracle.skilledtests.com sent you a dent to tell you about it. Unfortunately the dent seems not to have reached Rainbowdash: http://quitter.se/conversation/1885043#notice-2073448 Best regards :-)

  4. @widget Sorry to hear that. Every trojan infection case maybe different. Was the malware still active after applying ComboFix? Or was the system 'just unusable' because the trojan or its removal caused irreversible damage?

  5. @ceruleanspark Thx, I've just found the same posting myself at the same second :) So this is a Mustard fork. I think I will try it on my # netbook to make sure it doesn't conflict with my original version Mustard installation on my phone

  6. will you notify the !scootanetandroid group when a apk file of the ScootaNet statusnet client becomes available to download? I'm interested to test it, no matter if beta/alpha/pre-alpha version.

  7. @widget In my experience all the Antivirus software from big companies for Windows is not very effective against today's sophisticated trojans, botnet clients etc. If you really don't want to wipe the whole disk and re-install everything from scratch: I had good results using ComboFix from a website called bleepingcomputer.* I used it on many infected Windows PCs after already having applied multiple traditional AV software and it found and removed *remaining* trojan stuff in every case. I always do an image-backup of the infected system before.

  8. @widget This is good news :-)

  9. @widget :) I always feared getting kicked from this instance as soon as ppl find out I'm not a real brownie

  10. @erkanyilmaz My experience w/ rainbowdash .net: an amazing instance w/tons of local users and >400 !groups!! But the topic of everything is MyLittlePony. Users communicate at 99.9% within the local instance, not to # B/c nobody but me subscribes to remote accts, I miss a lot of conversation context dents from # accts I didn't sub myself.

  11. @erkanyilmaz Good news: quitter seems to be up and running again since about 10:25 AM Central European Summer Time = 8:25 UTC :-)

  12. @erkanyilmaz probably quitter's admins are asleep at this time of day ;-)

  14. @evan IMHO it would be nice if the new service would still be called identica. It's a strong name. pumpio can still be name of the technology

  15. But the experience for new newsgroup users is awful. Most people who try a random newsserver and some newsgroups will give up soon.

  16. what would be the hardware requirements? I have a thinclient box running 24/7 with GNU/Linux, 900 MHz and 1.2 GB RAM. Worth a try?

  17. What can an evil CA do? Provide MITM attackers with certificates and the communication partners connect to the MITM?

  18. @laurelrusswurm The skype thing isn't a big surprise to me. Everything without end-to-end encryption is no good for exchanging passwords.

Wednesday, 22-May-13 18:34:13 UTC from restore
  19. @laurelrusswurm people today just don't care much about privacy. This might be a bit dangerous.

  20. @laurelrusswurm you probably mean using a VM is more secure... ;)

  21. @marjoleink I had read that. It's clear to me that your !identica data is worth something to you. I hope you will finally get all of it.

  22. @march So one should rather avoid registering on those spammed !sn instances. Spam is so awfull - # once was paradise, now it's hell

Wednesday, 22-May-13 15:29:36 UTC from restore
  23. @kuro you can already create an additional account @kuro@<someserver> and use that after 1.6. @erkanyilmaz dented on this topic today

Wednesday, 22-May-13 15:22:16 UTC from restore
  24. @kuro I won't suggest wiping out one's !identica account, as @evan said all our data will be savely put to !plumio AND archive.org

Wednesday, 22-May-13 15:15:56 UTC from restore
  25. @kuro alternative: all those !identica users who do nothing will be moved to !pumpio. Pumpio will probably be awesome, but very different

Wednesday, 22-May-13 15:06:48 UTC from restore
  26. @kuro you can setup your own !statusnet server or register on some existing server: http://ur1.ca/2rkdk

Wednesday, 22-May-13 15:01:07 UTC from restore
  27. @march interesting. Are real #/#freelish.us users affected by spamming or is it only in the global TL? !federation

Wednesday, 22-May-13 14:47:36 UTC from restore
  28. @kuro probably to create her account on a federated !statusnet server instead of (additionally to) waking up in the !pumpio world in10 days

Wednesday, 22-May-13 14:28:51 UTC from restore
  29. it's sad too see the global timeline of some bigger !sn servers: 99% spam, e.g. at freelish.us, bentio.com... so different from !identica
