  1. @somercet Haha, that's basically my old view of the place, back when I knew only the cultural exports of the place but not the common man there.

  6. @rw It's funny how it's the opposite than here. Here you only buy a console if you have too much money to spare due to how stupidly expensive the games are. If you're on a budget you get a PC because you can get good deals online or buy pirated dvds a dime a dozen.

  9. @takegrapeakenji Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's someone from earlier than that, I just don't know anyone personally. I could look through my very early identica subscriptions and see if anyone is still active somewhere.

  10. @gameragodzilla That's what cracks are for. Specially as 2 is singleplayer and the company that made it is defunct.

  11. @gameragodzilla I pirated the whole thing after someone gifted me SR3 and it didn't let me pick install folder.

  12. @maiyannah IDK I'm happy with anything that FrankerZs up the taxi monopoly, since they're thieves with their pricing. I wouldn't mind both going under due to their fight.

  14. @maiyannah Oh. It threw me off as you replied to my post rather than his.

  15. @maiyannah ??

  16. @lambadalambda Meanwhile over here Uber has been locked in a legal battle with taxi drivers for over a year.

  17. @gameragodzilla Maybe it has no multi core support?

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:44:33 UTC from web in context
  18. @sim Basically. A commercial ship is lightly armed because cannon decks take up loads of space, so having a faster ship means you have the advantage. A military ship only has weaponry as far as valuables goes, and is well armed and generally with an escort. I don't discard the possibility of pirates going after a ship or two that returned from a battle in bad shape, but they wouldn't go after normal military convoys, much like modern pirates run from coast guard and navy ships.

  19. @somercet Oh. Well, I don't keep up with tv at all.

  21. @sim Generally capturing big ships wasn't done because big ships require fleet support and are slow and hard to hide. If pirates captured one they'd only manage to get a small fleet chasing them.

  22. @delores IDK I got into the ocean once and it was warm? and water gets warm if you leave it out otherwise what would be the point of ice cubes

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:37:39 UTC from web in context
  23. @delores Plus the sea is warm enough to swim in, so icebergs would melt really fast.

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:20:13 UTC from web in context
  24. @sim Both the cargo and the ship itself were incredibly costly. Relative cost of big warships hasn't changed much over the years, just like today back then one big warship was a considerable drain on a nation's resources

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:18:39 UTC from web in context
  25. @delores Yeah it's fake because supposedly DiCaprio died on it but then I saw him on TV last year.

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:16:39 UTC from web in context
  26. @sim Now I'm wondering if I'm mixing it up as I know the term has to do with fish.

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:13:21 UTC from web in context
  27. If the titanic had been full of it, no one would have died.

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:12:07 UTC from web in context
  28. I think we should completely fill ships' hulls with styrofoam, thus rendering them impossible to sink.

Tuesday, 21-Feb-17 06:11:33 UTC from web in context
  29. @maiyannah Google revealed that but the idea of a damn huge fish crashing against the fleet's flagship, sinking it and killing the king's captain is much more amusing.

  30. @sim Turns out squall also stands for storm.
