http://www.bronychan.orgCurrently I'm a master's student at Purdue University, I can't tell you exactly what I study but it has to do with blowing things up (haha no really). I don't watch as much TV as I use to but I do have a handful of shows I make a point to watch such as Dr. Who(oves), The Big Bang Theory, and of course My Little Pony.
Avid Brony and active member of this great community! I'm currently running a website called bronychan, where our goal is to help people plan and promote real life brony events such as meet ups, live streams, etc... Our site, started mid October, is ever changing led by yours truly and my friend Entro.

@thatponyguy yeah, lets not bring a messy thing like real life into this. Things will just get weird haha
-
I didn't know ponies wore clothes anyway.. Do ponies even have pants? I know they have jumpsuits, dresses, jackets, etc... But I don't think pants are canon, am I wrong?
-
@ponyveteran no please, leave the pants on...
-
Soooooo BEST SONG EVER TODAY!

Uhg... Damn these hooves and their awkward typing!! I would be so much more productive if I had those hand things Lyra is always going on about

Sigh... Apparently my roommates are opposed to me working on a Friday. Oh well I'm off to be social :D

Yep, for the most part. Though it's not so much imperfections I'm looking for, It's more of testing the material itself. If you were to test for imperfections with a running machine, there's a good chance you'll blow it up, (which has happened before). We're testing different materials and trying to see how they hold up.

@greydragon412 oh what the program is for? Well.. I have a list of know conditions and physical properties of a twin shaft turbofan engine and i'm modeling the heat transfer and vibration within the turbine. Though as to what is actually measuring these conditions, many many sensors attached to testing rig set up in a lab.
-
@greydragon412 but I wish you the best of luck with getting into one of those companies. I have a couple of friends trying to do the same thing, but it can be a hard industry to break into, especially the big names.
-
@greydragon412 ha you're right it should be 'a' not 'an' stupid basic english.... But, sorry about that, I've been talking tech all week so let me reword my previous message. The programs I write are for structural and thermo analysis. So basically it looks to see where something has gotten too hot or has too much stress and lets me know.
-
@greydragon412 right now I'm writing an FEA program for a project I'm working on. I know C++, perl, MATlab, and Mathmatica. Programming isn't my major, but it's a large subset and I use it almost too often haha. So what do you plan to do in college?
-
@greydragon412 yes.. I'm new to the site, though so far I'm enjoying it. @abigpony aww thanks, but I don't really need luck just another set of hands and a keyboard so I can bust this out quicker and go grab a much needed drink :D
-
Hey Everypony! It seems as though my weekend has vanished already and it's only Friday.. Anyneigh (hmm that one needs work) I'll be programming all tonight so be prepared for random pop ins and slightly off topic/color posts :D
-
@abigpony yep, thanks :) I kinda want it to function as a internet brony TV guide/calendar/planner but I've only had it up for a couple weeks and I'm always updating it
-
well as much as I would like to stay and chat, my bed seems to be calling and it would be rude not to answer. So in the interest of my friend not yelling at me later, check out our website bronychan.org -Organizing a fandom one pony at a time (Sorry shameless plug)
-
@ponydude2143 yeah, i have that effect on places. *Walks into room = instant nerdgasm* haha

@ceruleanspark Windows 8? I hoping that's a typo because if you have a beta copy i'm going to be really jealous
-
@ponydude2143 Yes, totally agree with you. Though the programs I'm talking about don't really have alternatives. I use Catia, MatLab, and a host of other CFD and FEA programs (yay acronyms!!)
-
@theonepony nope, you would be a bad pony though
-
@ponydude2143 yeah, my lab top and phone are both synced to my desktop so I always have everything no matter where I go which is by far my favorite feature ever.
-
@pinhooves who?
-
@ponydude2143 well most of my programs for class/work aren't linux compatible so I always had to run it through wine or something similar. Though that wasn't really that bad. I don't know, I was always just 'meh'
-
@princessunoriginal something on your mind princess?
-
@ponydude2143 yeah which is all the labs here run, so python becomes cumbersome juggling between 10~15 computers. I dabbled with linux on my last computer and I had mixed feelings. Right now I'm running a bare bones Window's 7 64bit
-
@ponydude2143 yeah and for me that makes python such a pain. Most of the programming I work on is transferred from one computer to the next and if the directories are messed up, no code :(
-
@scribus oh wow... I think the last person I know who learned that was my Uncle when he was in college haha
-
@ponydude2143 I don't know, if you know what you're doing you can write a C++ code as clean as any python code. Python's coding is just a higher level language so it's easier for people to follow, especially if they're not the one who wrote it.
-
@theonepony oh the memories.. I learned Fortran my freshman year but it seems to have mostly died out as do most lower level languages. Machine languages are just too tedious
