@ceruleanspark I am pretty sure that you recall that the value of a market is depending on a few factor's, one of the mayor factors being the faith the consumers have in it. Immagine that Steam does go down and a LOT of gamers lose their games. The backlash from the market would make it impossible to maintain a serivice platform like this for years to come, probably even a generation. I do not even deem it unthinkable that a diffrent company, even a shell company of EA, will buy out Valve just to keep the market from crashing. TL;DR version. If Steam goes down the market crashes for virtual game products. Noone wants that to happen, especially retailers who do online sales, and they will defend Steam from dying lest they die too
