@beatstrings The thing is, living just for ourselves can also mean living for others. What if our interests and desires have everything to do with helping others? A little playing devil's advocate, perhaps. Egoism is just a means of counter-acting socialist or communist ideals, where they force you essentially to act for the means of the state or the people, not yourself. There has to be a middle ground in this somewhere. The thing is, that kind of perfect balance is nigh impossible to reach. This is what I think humanity is working towards.
