  1. Okay, time to wrap up what I read. Objectivism is likely so an experiment worth the shot, since firstly, they stand firm with facts and doesn't depend in man's emotion. It's likely to give most justice because let's face it, court trials in some countries are just as ridiculous as the next one. It also gives man a sense of self and can definitely motivate the work ethics. Since reason is so essential yet so hard to pin down because it can change within seconds, it's also a good basis since you basically give man freedom to see the truth, somewhat like perceive what's reality and what's not. And lastly I adored the idea of having a fair trade scheme and having the government apply what's proper punishment to law breakers, it kind of balances out and may improve morality by time. What do you think @awlderpy?

    1. @beatstrings I too like the idea of what is explained as 'true capitalism' but I'm not sure as to how much justice it can give when it's supposedly lax and purposefully so. As she had stated (lead to believe these are quotes from Rand herself), the government only acts as a policeman to protect those rights against force in a retaliatory sense against those who enact it first. Also, my large qualm with it happens to be that man exists only for himself? As in, he doesn't sacrifice himself for the sake of others, nor sacrifice others for the sake of himself? That seems way too utopian a viewpoint to me. Humanity cannot be put into one place like that.

      1. @awlderpy Well, take it this way, this is a disciplinary wise setting for a progressing country. Simply put, having to at least input a small generation of self centered workers will avoid the next generation being overly dependent. And the idea I think she's pin pointing is if we started in ourselves, nothing will be harmed. Like it's a positive aftermath, right. But I think you're doubting that maybe healthcare benefits, blood donation and family support won't exist. I'd say 50/50 maybe because the every man for himself scheme is for the work force the country is making. It's not a control freak plan to grasp into a man and make him non-emotional so the speak. And I'm sure the government won't let harsh punishment for law breakers. Maybe just a more controlled justice of sorts is what she's stroking on.

        1. @beatstrings I wasn't even thinking the emotional aspect of this at first, just that the statement itself that people are an end of themselves and only that. The highest purpose of a person's life is their own interests? I can't find myself ever believing that. Maybe, because of my own emotional governance, I want to believe that people have more than that to do in their lives. I do not doubt that benefits and donations and charities will exist or not exist under this type of system; there are many private orginisations in our current society that do these things. The idea that man is a means to himself however, seems to want to counteract some people's willingness to give and not receive in return.

          1. @awlderpy In that perspective you make me feel doubtful. It's a no if you'll end up being a robot like human where you only have a high sense of ego. Like you'll be acting like a rich guy, when you're not, you're powerful yet you can't help. You seem to leave me no choice disagreeing with this point of view. I don't have a heart to just live myself and just pursue my interest. I was just pointing how you can take it down a few but egoism is still there in the work section. Because applying such a black and white mindset towards any individual you will ever meet in your country will destroy or hurt others who can't handle this mindset. Per se this is a small tear in the perfect fabric that will lead this perspective torn and unstable.

            1. @beatstrings The thing is, living just for ourselves can also mean living for others. What if our interests and desires have everything to do with helping others? A little playing devil's advocate, perhaps. Egoism is just a means of counter-acting socialist or communist ideals, where they force you essentially to act for the means of the state or the people, not yourself. There has to be a middle ground in this somewhere. The thing is, that kind of perfect balance is nigh impossible to reach. This is what I think humanity is working towards.

              1. @awlderpy If you put it that way, I would thank you for giving me that view. But I think it's just the bind of you to the people that's missing. I honestly think the social media is targeting this bond where everyone understands and respects each other. It will happen through emotion and emotional encounters, but the latter part matters. If this happens, we rather have a solid bond of consciously concerned of others without having to pick sides because of one's emotion. If we go through the loophole and continue with this mindset I'll be happy to return my position to this as a yes if ever that impossible balance happens.

                1. @beatstrings Yes! There is a balance to achieve here, not either one side of the spectrum. I've never been a fan of emotion clouding judgement but perhaps in some cases it makes judgement more clear. Who knows for certain. -subjectivism-

                  1. @awlderpy I'm happy that you're happy with the discussion, I'm really going to find this book. I'm beginning to love the idea of it, as well study some from the other fence.

                    2. @beatstrings As for the books all of the quotes are notated towards their origin. Looks like 'The Objectivist' collections are the ones to go with.

                        1. @beatstrings If tempted to buy hard copies I won't just have language and fantasy books anymore. That'll be quite nice.
