@awlditzy The thing is, and it is also the reason it happened, Hitler didn't want to "do evil", he genuinely believed that what he was doing was right. His speeches got the attention and support of masses of people because what he said he actually believed. He was mad, yes, but people react more to emotion than to logic. If you show an emotion strongly enough it'll be passed on to everyone watching.
