@clayinthecarpet The problem is it needs to at least pretend to be neutral, even if at its core it only exists to push an opinion. Since it doesn't, it's going to get written off by critics as propaganda, which will lessen the impact of what it was trying to do (make bronies look better to the general public). It really is an issue, since whether or not the doc is enjoyable for people with a connection to it to watch, its biggest impact is to be made with people who are otherwise completely uninvolved with the fandom, and it kinda shot itself in the foot there.
